You're right. It is an ugly place. I don't enjoy being here. But the money...most days I never log more than 200 miles, sometimes 250 and usually lines 3 & 4 only come out to 7 or 8 hours. And I know people pulling A-trains and running multi axle setups that are working their arse off for a lot less money.

Maybe so six. I’m more of the type that keeps my head down and mouth shut. I keep my back to the wall and don’t sit at the bar. I will only talk after I have listened and accessed who’s worth talking to. I don’t sit at the lunch counter because that’s where cap’n ######## is going to sit. And pan handlers can get ####ed. I’ve never had the locals get mad at me or if they did they didn’t say it. Anyways, breakfast looks good.
SAR, Isafarmboy, Feedman and 21 others Thank this. -
Still up for debate .....only thing I'm sure of is the vfw is gonna have to restock their crown.
-
Unfortunately no time for that....gotta run down to the pig palace and unload my wagon.
-
I'm pretty much the same way.....I survey and listen. 99% of the people in this world are not looking for confrontation, .5% like to bark but not bite and the last .5% are truly dangerous.

This kinda goes hand in hand with the people watching I mentioned earlier and something I pointed out to my wife...
She said that her little mini Australian Shepherd (Dory) get growly when our daughter's border collie (Lucy) comes in the room. I told her it's because she always talks to Lucy. She doesn't talk to Dory. She said that Lucy just seems to grab your attention more than Dory.
I think people are the same way. Some people walk into a room and command attention with their presence while others blend into the surroundings.
Our oldest daughter has a big presence but never knows what to say. I'm sure it's awkward and she probably wishes she could blend in. When she quits worrying about what people think of her it'll get better, but for now it's just a function of her age.
Six, I don't know you and I've never met you in person but you remind me of a friend that I once had. He had a commanding presence and he would talk to people just to see what they were about, even if it was to confirm his own assumption about them. It was education and entertainment all in one. -
It was dark, he wouldn’t be able to see them.SAR, Grubby, BigCam9670 and 11 others Thank this.

How old is your oldest daughter?
I have a young sister that guys swoon over. Nice looking, but she drives 18 for fed ex. She rides her own motorcycle. She likes her cars. Dynamic.
I watch how others watch her. The women look at her starry eyed and hang on to her every word.
The thing is, she wants to blend in. And she can’t. I can’t figure that one out.
