"the "suggestive sales" piss me off though!"
I agree with Panhandle: I can't count how many times I've said "Did I ASK for one?"
Is that everything?...sigh!!

Alert !!!!
This thread, along with at least a dozen I have posted. Shows just how petty some can be over things that don't bother others.
And how easy it is to further frustrate a driver having a bad day.

After working in the retail industry for over 10 years before I became a truck driver, it doesn't offend me if they ask me "is that all?" Sometimes that question reminds a person that they have forgotten to ask for an item that only the cashier can retrieve. Like a pack of cigarettes. Or something else that is only stocked behind the counter. I know where they are coming from, having to interact with lots of people during their shift, and some of them may have given them a hard time.
I always try to respond in a kind manner, hoping to bring a small ray of sunshine to their bleak and dreary day. Especially if she is cute.
As far as the suggested sales pitch, I am not too fond of those. But, they are just doing as they are instructed by their supervisor. They are not only pitching fries and a drink, but they are also wanting to make sure that a customer didn't actually want a value meal.
So, lighten up driver. You aren't there very long (I hope), and they don't mean any harm to your psyche. -
I totally agree, but when they do the hard sell thing, it sort of irks me because it's like Spam, but in your face.
So there is a five second frustration there. To answer the cute cashier, it's more like "No, so How YOU Doin'? -
otherhalftw, panhandlepat, Crotts Trucking and 2 others Thank this. -

Yes I try to follow Corporate policy. I love my job and don't want to lose it. I also try to make sure my cashiers follow all the rules. Seems like we are always breaking in someone new. I want to thank all the nice drivers, for being patient with the new girls.
Thanks to all who replied to my post. You guys made me feel welcome and I appreciate that very much. If any of you read my introduction on the welcome wagon, you know I was on the road with my ex and know about the hardships of a driver's life.Crotts Trucking Thanks this.
