I recently left my job of nearly 2 years (that I loved) because they installed inward facing cameras in all of their trucks. The timing of this departure perfectly coincided with my moving out of my house, so I have a few weeks to look for the right job while I pack up my life. I am surprised by how much trouble I am having finding what I am looking for. I have even whittled my "must haves" list down, and still am having trouble. Can anyone point me in the direction of a company that fits? I have 2.5 years of experience, and a perfect driving record. This is what I'm looking for in a truck:
    • A fridge (super weird to me that this even needs to be said).
    • A power inverter, preferably 1800 watts (so that I can make my own coffee, and heat my own food).
    • Either an APU or no idling policy, as I sleep days and run nights, and the truck interior gets unbearably hot starting in the spring. I need to be able to keep the AC on.
    • No inward facing cameras. Preferably no company cameras at all.
    • No or minimal "safety" alarms (that I find wildly unsafe).
    • Hauling 53' Dry Van.
    • Oh, another thing I think is weird that requires mentioning, but a company that doesn't forbid the drivers from using a bluetooth headset.
I am on the West Coast, but since I don't plan to be moving IN to a new place once I vacate my current home, I don't require much home time, so the company doesn't have to be based over here. I would prefer OTR in general, but would definitely want a company that services the West Coast. I still have family here, even if I won't have my own place.

Here's some; 3 reefer outfits and one dry van outfit.
Freymiller may have what you want. @Ssand Man works there and can fill you in.
Schuster - www.schusterco.com - call and ask about cameras.
Danny Herman Trucking - dry van

I know we are looking for company drivers, company trucks are Cascadia think they are 2017 to 2019 models. Fridge, apu, inverters , I'm not 100% sure on inverters. Their apu's also have shore power.
Need a clean mvr and be able to get passport for running into Canada. They require 3 yrs otr with winter driving exp. and great backing skills. But they may entertain 2 1/2 yrs experience.
Company only has forward facing cameras.
We do concert touring. Don't haul freight, only items for entertainment.
    Check out the web site
    Stagecall.com
We have company drivers that have been here over 20 years and o/o's since the company was started in 1983. I've been here 10 yrs in June as an o/o.
If you like driving at night and don't mind being on the road a few months at a time, this could the job for you.

Entertainers requires a driver who can keep mouth shut.

    Whatcha got in that trailer?

    "Air"

I used to say I got bubbles in mine. (Medicine vials make bubbles when shaking on bridges etc) that seriously throws them off or better yet creates a topic for trash teasing. Ooo you like bubble baths eh? Which serves the same purpose.

I may have witnessed my first KW700 big company rig up 67 the other day running with traffic.

I don't know if there is such a KW model out there yet.

    Consider Indian River Transport.

Yes, we haul food grade liquids in a smooth bore tank, which is NOT a 53' dry van. Hear me out:

I pulled 53' vans for two and a half years. And in my opinion, tanks have a distinct advantage.

No puking grocery store warehouse lumpers to deal with.
You're backing nowhere near as much.
In California, you are waved through the agricultural checkpoint.
    No more tandems to slide.
No more worrying about being front or rear heavy on the drives or tandems.
No more needing to hammer in rusty or stuck tandem slide pins.
No more opening trailer doors at the shipper or consignee.
No more sweeping out your trailer or looking for a sneaky place to dump those sweepings.
No sweeping out fine dust in high heat or bitter cold. Or in the dark.
No broken pallets to dispose of.
No damaged freight or overgoods to dispose of.
No worries of encountering a broken floorboard from a heavy forklift.
No holes in the sides or front of the trailer from a careless forklift driver.
No ceiling holes to encounter on a rainy day. I always dreaded opening a trailer on a rainy day to see a large pool of water midfloor. *shudder*
No finding broken door hinges, latches, or handles that need a hammer to close.
No more product restacking due to poorly loaded pallets.
No more load securement of any poorly loaded pallets.
You'll never encounter a pre-sealed trailer that you cannot inspect to make certain there are no load securement issues.

One day I picked up this trailer from a drop yard outside Columbus, Ohio. It was a load of used motor oil going to Missouri. Trailer was pre-sealed. I hooked to it and west on I-70 I went.

Then I stopped at the TA in London, OH for food. Came back to my truck to find oil leaking through my trailer floorboards. Maybe a few gallons worth. I ended up parked there all weekend because no uppity ups were there to advise dispatch on what to do. After leaking all weekend, I was told to take the load back to the drop yard.

IRT has no cameras in their trucks.
There is no idling policy and our tractors do not auto shut off.
    On board fridge.
    1500 watt inverter.
    No Bluetooth restrictions.
The only unsafe safety device we have is automatic braking systems installed on a few tractors. Not most, not some. Just a handful.

We run Peterbilt 579's with large sleepers. We do have trucks in our new pump division with smaller sleepers, but I've only seen those in Florida.

Our west coast terminal is in Visalia, California. There is a storage unit rental place nearby. You did mention were moving. Yes, I own a pickup truck. No, I'm not helping you move.

And yes, tanks need to be washed between loads, but most tank wash facilities have free laundry and showers available while you wait.

Oh, and another thing I hated about dry vans was checking if the trailer registration was on the trailer. If not, it was off to locate a fax machine.

p.s. one day I'm going to post a comment longer than one from x1Heavy.
