So... I went to the same school... Just graduated actually. The only students that were on the yard by themselves were the ones who did not pass their CDL tests and were in their 4th or 5th weeks. The priority of the school should be the new students. I have to admit... I really got annoyed by my instruction time being taken away by 4th or 5th week students that were blaming everything from equipment to instructor turnover for their own failure to apply the instruction they were given. From my observation, they felt like they knew more than the instructors and were arguing with them and blaming the equipment for encroaching the lines and extra pull ups. Some students kept saying, "they never taught me that." which is BS because I remember hearing the same instruction they did. Maybe if they quit ############ around and payed attention and stopped blaming everyone else, they would have done better.

As far as the price of the school, State subsudizes the cost of the school. With Driver Solution, I will pay only 1495 after one year. USA will pay the difference.

The instructors at C1, in my opinion, were top notch. Then again, I payed attention and didn't BS around when instruction was going on. The equipment on the yard was not roadworthy. That is why it's on the yard. I found that if I could parallel park the yard truck, I can parallel park the test truck much easier. My road truck was not new, but it worked properly. They replaced all the tires on the road trucks while I was there. Those are the priority for repairs.

C1 in Springfield has a very good pass rate. It is a good school. I can't speak for the C1 schools in other parts of the country, but I would recommend C1 in Springfield to anyone who will pay attention and realize they are there to get their CDL and start a career.

I was at the school in Feburary and I received my certificate in March 6th. Yes, I was there only three weeks. It can be done!!!!!!! When it comes to the yard, do not screw around and keep yourself on the instructor`s hip!!!!!!!!!!!! Listen to ALL instruction. Not just your own. True there has been turnover in instructors. But teaching is different than experience. Any instructor can and will help and listen, BUT be tactful about it!!!!!!!! Also remenber people seem to learn at different speeds, but some do fiddle around!!!!

I attended C1 (Springfield MO) in in July 2008. I thought they did a really good job in the length of time, and my class was a record number of students. Instructors stayed late and worked on weekends to help students who were struggling. Recently I completed the Swift academy (had to redo school because of not driving in over a year) and I preferred Swift's method of teaching backing skills, but that is just me. I don't have any complaints about either school.

Going to C1 in Indy middle of next month. Looking forward to it. I hope that hidden clauses and "oh by the way"s don't screw up my excitement.

I must say i have heard only a few students from the strafford school complain like this! From my view point as a former strafford student i had a great time all instructors was very helpful & honest! ( Roy was my road instructor, Dave in-class, Paula, Arron Mrs. Kelley on the range) Also very honest with the FACT that the school only gets you the CDL & school begins when you get in the trainers truck! As for the cost yes Drivers Solutions charges more than the state or if you was to pay cash however as long as you complete the agreed contract you will only pay (approx) $1500 out of pocket exp. thru 12 mnths of payroll deductions! As for the American Inn, welcome to a low budget hotel! I can say that none of my fellow classmates nor i had any issues & It is not a required housing so the other option is to reach in your pocket & stay somewhere else which will lower the amount you pay back about $400. Oh yeah the hotel is not owned ran by nor controlled by C-1. Now from a trainers point of view I can tell you students from this school are usually much more prepaired to begin training as compared to N. Little Rock, Ft. Wayne or Ft. Worth & many other training schools. Not to mention they most often upgrade after 4 weeks with ease! As for the students that walk away crying & full of complaints they are most often a huge pain to try & teach not to mention they end up with 1 of 2 stories with in six mnths. #1 they brake the contract & quit! or #2 become the proud owner of a sh*#ty DAT report due to accidents/incidents & are just 1 big whinning pile of safety hazardous, liability S*#T!!!!

Paula was an awesome road instructor when I was there, and Dave made classes so much fun. I never laughed so much in my life. Besides Paula, I had the priviledge of having Wendell for a road instructor a couple of times. He was an older man who was only helping out part time. He was amazing! Miss Kelley sometimes stayed way into the evening to help struggling students with their backing, and the guys on the range were very helpful as well. They were all a fine bunch of folks, but I have heard some of them are no longer there.

Was Paula a short, blond lady who used to drive for Schneider? If so, she had just started teaching there when I went through. She was pretty darn cool.
