if you encounter a jerk cop that is determined to write you up, he or she will probably find something regardless of what you have done in the recent past
i have little control over jerk cops. i trust my judgement and if and when an issue occurs, I'll deal with it then. If someone in authority is unreasonable, I can't really do much about that (other than make it worse of course).

Jerk cops who think they are the Terminator?
It doesn't get any worse than that.Lepton1, Tombstone69 and 88228822 Thank this. -
I agree with Jammer, it's all a lot of unnecessary BS, instituted to create revenue(wether it's a fine, or a job for some college JO) and exercise control over Drivers. Man up, do what you have to do to be safe and comfortable and if someone has a problem with that let them know where the sun doesn't shine. If it comes down to someone taking hard earned money out of my pocket, sure it helps to be diplomatic but I'll be d@ГГ|Г¡=d if I'm going to give it up without a fight, that's why they do it, because we let them. Written up for 8min over, ####!

log out completely. then drive the half mile and park. then log back in. those satelites are always 1 to 2 miles off anyway.
-
i hope you did a dvir on that tire. since its a safety related issue.
-
A couple of points.
1. Gps is accurate within 3 meters so if yours is a couple miles off, you might want to get it replaced.
2. That doesn't matter anyway as eld's cannot use gps for movement data. It uses the trucks ecm so even across the street it knows about movement.
Unplugging it tells safety you were trying to hide the violation. That's worse than the very minor violation of going across the street for parking. Don't do that.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
I just drove the half mile. I was mainly asking advice and opinions on how bad it was. I started 3 months ago like I did every other job. Way to honest for my own #### good. It's how i got chewed out over smudging the paint on a trailer when other drivers smash into containers and nothing is said to them.
I man up to my mistakes but I'm not gonna tattle on myself over every little thing.
I had a few options stay parked and let the load be way late because I'd have the tire fixed after my 10. Or drive get it fixed and roll at 5mph that few thousand feet.Tombstone69 Thanks this. -

It's not a mistake to get caught like that. It is also not ratting yourself out to note the violation. I do agree somewhat about that paint scratch you talked about. I got some bad news for you though. This out of hours thing is going to gobsmack you from time to time. As long as the FMCSA has these HOS rules it is a fact of life. This is why they changed the PC guidance to allow an escape. Not to is to bring the HOS rules into direct conflict with the FMCSA Driver coercion rule.

Why overthink this, just do it ... then deal with it later.
