I followed Roosevelt eastbound one more block and at Woodside Ave in the region between 59th crossstreet and 60th cross street you have a 12 foot 4 inch yellow and black sign posted just past the woodside corner above the man standing against post on sidewalk to right in this view.

At this point I decided due to my rule of three. Once is happenstance. Whatever, Twice is coincidence. And there will not be a third time due to enemy action.

I consider roosevelt not a valid route With these persistant yellow and black signs proclaiming 12 foot four inches.

I have not forgotten the famously stupid way that NY State and NYC INSIST on being a foot short of actual clearance. I do not know where that habit comes from, maybe they get tired of being that high and don't wanna make accurate signs or something like everyone else does.

If I were you, you look again for another route to your assigned end point of the trip.

I’ve went under that. It’s possible but you have to bring your airbags down and crawl so the bumps don’t have you touch the underlings. Also stick to the middle of the road. I haven’t capped mine but the truck in front of me did. In other words AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Why not take 495 to exit 17 and go south west on Maurice Ave which turns into Maspeth Ave then a right onto 49th? It’s 1 mile off the expressway

I heard they were in the process of changing the bridge signs to actual height instead of a foot short when this will happen and how long it will be some short or some right . the original thought on mar king them short was to allow for a foot of snow on the road ..... most of the streets that run under the l trains have low clearance the tracks are plenty high enough but the cross members arent.

Yeaaaaah that looks shaky at best on Roosevelt. Good ole Garmin set on 13'6" wants to go there. Anybody know height of Lauerl Hill where it runs under 278 if I go up to Exit39E ? Lauerl to 48th to 56th to 49 ? Really appreciate & I'm going to look at that 495 exit 17 now.

Can’t even trust the 1 foot rule.
Some are marked 13’4 and they truly are 13’4. Some are 12’8 but fit 13’8. Some are even marked 11’9 but are really 13’5.5

O.K. Did the Maspeth unload Monday. Used Hatt91's idea, except it's actually exit 18 (going east to west on 495) My map also showed it as 17w. Actually a small sign on 495 saying trucks to Maspeth use 18. However the left back under 495 at bottom of the 18 ramp is tighter than it looks if traffic pulled up there. So I went 1 block further to I believe 58th & made left. Actually a sign for that as well. Takes you right back to the Maurice / Maspeth junction. To leave area take Maurice back to the underpass at 495 & make a right to 495 east. (clearly marked) Not the best area for a 75' unit but got in & out unscathed. Other vehicles surprisingly patient with each other. Even the forklift traffic out loading on the street. Guess they're used to it. Glad I didn't try the Laurel Hill Rte. Saw signs saying Laurel Hill was closed. Thank you everyone who responded.

    Hatt91 and Ffx95 Thank this.
