If yer looking for a better clutch brake get an Ace B201. Snaps together and requires no tools or pins or screws. Remove with a twist of a screwdriver. I put one in a year ago and no complaints.

 

Started washing my machine for the engine swap. Was wondering why it needed a new engine. The 6"×10" window in the block and pieces of connecting rod and piston in the belly pan might have something to do with it?

 

My trouble is always getting my old one out. Out in the open free handed I'm salty with a torch. But in that hole I worry about all the places that fire is goin and can't get it done. I have tried a air hammer which sucked. Used to some of them old versatile tractors you couldn't get the brake distance and clutch free play right. We learned to cheat and use 2 brakes and it seemed to work well. So I'm kinda thinking about trying that. The snap together one may be just right for that approach

 

I'd be paranoid about using the torch in there too. My luck I'd probably #### the release bearing or melt a clutch spring or 3. My first week wrenching I managed to wreck the heavy brake shoe return spring while trying to heat a seized dust cover bolt. Worst part was it was on a log trailer loaded onto the truck so we couldn't just yank the tire and replace it either.

Is it Friday yet?

Im turnin Htown and back every day runnin 43 joints of pipe to a laydown yard here in Pleasanton. I have been accused of bein late every day when I have been in the yard at or before my appointment time. Then accused of wasting time coming back over here because I took an hour and half to eat and then take a #### @ 5pm yesterday before leaving Houston.

5 loads of pipe in 5 days as of tomorrow and apparently Im not running hard enough for these people.

A quote from a conversation today "oh we figured that since your appointment was at 1pm, they'd have you loaded immediately. We didnt know they didnt load you right at 1pm". I invited her to call the pipe supplier in Houston and tell them they're not movin fast enough...she declined. Also they didnt realize it takes more than 45min to drive 237mi...approx 3hrs 15min.

 

You gots be shatting me

 

Well yeah, except it's great big and weighs about 50 lbs and puts out a whopping 20A when you get er wound up. The good news is it only has to run the ignition, headlight and taillight. My '49 has one, but was changed to 12V.

The blue Honda in the background was mine too. '73 350 Four that I resurrected. I ended up selling it to a random caller off a craigslist ad who turned out to be a BG fuel additive sales guy I knew from my auto repair days 20 yrs earlier. Small world.

 

Check your slip joints and make sure they're lubed good, if so pull them.apart to check wear.
