If the fuel neck is up under the trailer, then trying to fill it with a portable can wont do you any good either.
Also if the fill hole is hiding under the trailer. the easier thingt to do is to remount the tank so the neck can be easily filled.25(2)+2 Thanks this. -
If ya dont like fuelin a reefer than hook up to a flatbed and come join the dark sideHoneyBadger67, Tombstone69, lovesthedrive and 4 others Thank this.

It's more loves, pilot, flying j, Petro or ta points fueling it remember. You also might get someone mad when you pull up just enough to fuel the reefer and they have been waiting a while. Also if reefer is in stop/start it should last ages
lovesthedrive and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
Why hasn't anyone mentioned the fact that 5 gallons is only 1/10 of a 50-gallon tank?
It's a proverbial "drop in the bucket."
Unless you're already pretty close to 3/4 tank, 5 gallons probably won't help much. Also, imagine trying to carefully fill a can with a fast truck stop diesel pump. Better have a change of clothes ready...bottomdumpin Thanks this. -
I think it was mentioned but also mentioned is the fact that it is easy to stop at a t/s and get it filled.Bob Dobalina Thanks this.

bungee straps have no safety rating.

This is not true across the board. Even in start stop mode. If it is much above 60 degrees outside especially if the sun is shining and you have a -10 load that reefer is going to use on average a gallon of fuel an hour. Some reefer trailers have small tanks then to complicate it further it can be easy to pickup trash when a tank gets too low. This is why the fuel pickups for an APU only go so far into the main tank of the tractor. When I was an active driver I knew if I had to hit a fuel stop or not when dropping a reefer. Our fuel cards were set up so we could buy fuel up to 50 gallons most anywhere that took the cards just for this purpose.lovesthedrive Thanks this.

I'm amazed that no one has invented a setup where you can plug you're reefer into the truck tank. I guess then you wouldn't be able to tell the receiver your out of fuel, lol.

My guess would be more to do with highway taxes. No way I would put taxed fuel in a reefer unless I had zero other choice.lovesthedrive and Tombstone69 Thank this.
