Allow me to tell my story about Raider Express. I worked there about a year and a half ago. I did well enough to issued a nearly new truck from the start.
I started running solo about January and within a few weeks I was given a run to Chicago. Got to about Springfield, Ilinois, it started to snow. I got stuck for three days at a Loves Truck Stop, couldn't buy fuel because they did not want you to fuel in Illinois. I finally decided I am buying fuel and I could care less what they thought.
Dispatcher told me I had to move the truck and I said no and was forced to call safety and after they found out there was 20 inches of snow on the ground and the interstate 55 was closed down, they said stay safe and don't worry about the load. They had a team bring a load coming back to Texas to me and we swapped loads and they took the load going East.
At that point in time, my wife was hospitalized and had a stroke a few days later after I parked my truck at the yard and turned in my stuff and they said take care of your wife and call us when your ready to come back.
I called and was told, sorry, your not eligible for rehire. I asked why and was told, no reason, your just not eligible and if you want to know the reasons, pull your DAC report.
I pulled my DAC and all it says is I worked there from this day to this date, nothing wrong noted. They were probably pissed because of the snow incident and my buying fuel against company policy.
The trucks are governed for 60 mph and they want you to drive 53. If you go to the max of 60, they want you to explain why. They are huge on fuel savings and they consider money saved as part of their revenue.
They have no toll passes or prepass, so you always going to enter a weigh station and have to take a cash advance for tolls and they deduct it out of your check, then once they get receipts and prove them out, then they add money back into your next paycheck.
This is a good company to start with because it gets you exposure to being on the road but not one that you'll want to stay with long term.
Does anyone have information on Raider Express?

I drove for Raider in late 2014-2015. Here is what happened. I took a load from the yard in Ft. Worth to Chicago. This is after I ran Ft Worth to Denver, backed up by Ft. Collins, Co to Amarillo, Tx then Cactus Tx to Denver.
I got to Springfield, Illinois and the snow started. I got as far as a Loves Truck Stop the other side of Springfield and was snowed in for three days.
I got zero layover pay because I was told that the weather was an act of God.
The dispatcher on duty told me he was having a team come to me to swap loads, stating this team isn't afraid of driving on ice and in snow and gave me a load from that area back to Ft. Worth.
I got back to yard, dropped the trailer as I was instructed to and told to go home and take a 34 hour reset and come back.
At this time, my wife had a stroke and I explained my situation and told them I had to come off the road. I was told, ok take the time and call us when I was ready to come back.
4 months later, I call them and I was told to email the recruiting director and advise of my status, so I did so and the email reply was simply the word No.
I replied and asked what that meant and two days later I receive a reply of Your not eligible for rehire. Check your DAC report for the reasons.
I ordered the DAC and it says nothing, no not eligible for rehire, no reason for being shut out.
They are a good company. The only ones with longevity are office people, managers and drivers who are driver trainers. -
Elg1968 Thanks this.

That's why the company is really owned by Mike Jr and his wife, who is in charge of safety. They do have the slow trucks. They recommend you drive at 53 mph and try to say its fuel savings. They say that their profit is in the fuel.

@Tex Pantego - A little info on Raider.

I always wondered why Raider trucks run so obnoxiously slow. 60mph is downright asinine, can't believe anyone would actually drive a truck that slow OTR.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
