thanks for the info man i'm looking in to the whole deal and its a whole diffrent world all together lol i have the 6.0L but its actually a good one no probs in the last 50,000 miles that ive owned it knock on wood im trading her in a year or 2 at the most for a 450-550 flat bed. the reason why i was gonna go so big anyway was to put a decent size plow and spreader and of course it'll be new or atleast a year old so if anything i just wanna start out small and see where it goes i dont plan to get rich but i plan to work hard and run even harder. but heres a weird question i have to yet to see answered with the small truck where do u guys sleep???? lol

That's a good question but it's a big secret .
. The truth is there is no Chevy , Ford , or Dodge with a back seat wide enough to allow legally logging sleeper berth in and technically you can't log off duty in a truck . So for the record they sleep in motels . Ever see a dually with a stretched wheelbase and a sleeper behind the cab ? That's why . It keeps the D.O.T off your back . DOT officers in some states will tell 1 ton owners they will put them out of service if they don't have a motel receipt . They have no right to do that . Nowhere in the regulations does it stipulate you must sleep or even rest while off duty . Once you log off duty they have no authority over you and what you do is none of their business . The Freightliner pictured has a back seat wide enough to meet the sleeper berth specs .

ahhhhhh ok i was gonna say i slept in my back seat one time while visiting a friend in the hospital. although cramped i could make it work but as u said that wont fly. there was a dodge like that i seen in florida i thought now d*mn thats redneck lol i could let the stacks go but not the sleeper but now i know why thanx again one more question when u get a chance I've only seen this once before comin off I-75. I seen a chevy D-max dually yankin a 5th wheel camper and behind that was pulling a small car...DOUBLES ON A P/U!?!?! I'm getting my doubles and triples endorsement along with my cdl A. Is pulling doubles or even better triples legal with a 1 ton if u have the endorsement and its within length requirments?

It varies state to state but where it is allowed the front trailer must be a 5th wheel - no double bumper puuls .

Good Mornin Guys.....Here's about 2 weeks ago I was watching TV and CMT's TRICK MY TRUCK was on...Well besides some new guys on the show this season...(I musta missed some episodes)
They tricked out a Dodge...Not sure if it was a 2500 or a str8 3500 single axle....They took and this was sssoooooooooooo cool....double stacked it....double axled it (YES I SAID TWIN SCREWS)Looked just like a class 8 rig and I can't remember if they add a sleeper or just tricked out the extra cab.. But anyways it was made to look like a peterbilt...It was called " RE-PETE ....Now with adding the extra axle they doubled this guys gvwr so he could haul more on this truck...I have a 98 Dodge Dually and it's gvwr is 10,000..I don't know if they have pictures of it yet on the web site but I'll see what I can find.
-
I really doubt they doubled his gvwr by adding another axle . Plain logic . If it takes 2 axles for a 10,000 lb. GVWR how can only one more axle give another 10,000 lb. GVWR ? A downside to making the truck 3 axle ? If used interstate a truck with 3 axles must be registered with IFTA and pay tax on all miles regardless of weight . Here's the pics . This episode will be on Monday March 30 , 2:30 a.m. et/pt http://www.cmt.com/pictures/trick-my-truck-jeff-whites-re-pete/1606333/thumbnails.jhtmlLast edited: Mar 28, 2009

Wow,..That there is one ugly truck..
-
i like it but change the color to a single color like red or something off the all like orange or yellow. Get rid of the gawdy interior lol my eyes hurt just looking at it. They could at least put a peterbilt corvette style dash in here like the old petes used to have maybe throw a 10 or even better a 13 speed tranny in her. It would make that a #### nice truck. But to each is own that truck will probally never work again
I seen this one truck on ebay it was all decked out like that but it was a 2000 ford super duty with the 7.3 and they some how managed to put twin screws and a 18 spd Eaton fuller tranny in her it looked sharp. I would of bought it but they wanted some insane amount like $30,000 and this like on 1 or 2 years ago maybe valuable to a collector but not worth it to me -
I was quoting what they said on the show...maybe it was that he would be able to haul more...but wouldn't that be true though?? Wouldn't a tag axle add to the over all weight that you could haul ?? -
It would and looking at it you may be right . It would be hard to figure though . While another axle would increase the GCWR the modifications would add considerably to the empty weight leaving less load capacity .RERUN Thanks this.
