I know a little but it will have to take a mechanic or someone who touches those things all the time to know for sure. If it was part of a landing gear that came off chances are that plane would have had some difficulty landing. So Im fairly secure in thinking that's not a plane.
However, one thing if I had to guess was something that came off a vehicle ahead or thrown off overpass or another vehicle which is why the Law needs to get ahold of that part for fingerprinting.

Possible that it is from some sort of equipment, maybe used on something on or around the airport. Maybe not, it does not look to be a truck part. From the one mark you can see on it, it looks like something may have run it over in the road way and then it kicked up into the air. It could have even been on the other side of the highway. Once airborne, a bounce or two going just about anywhere.
Something kicked up by tires has a fair amount of energy, it can travel quite a bit. It does not have to be a large vehicle. All that’s needed is to be traveling at highway speed.
It is good that no other damage or injuries occurred. Certainly was a lucky day. -
Women are allowed to say what they want, wife knows she can say to me whatever she likes. But if it is really important we both will get that discovery to see which one of us is right. Dinner or something else rides on it.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
You are very fortunate, go ahead by a lotto ticket for Wednesday's Powerball

My question is because airplanes are largely aluminum and the color of the pole in the picture is greyish.
it's not uncommon in that area to have vandals doing that sort of thing though... -
Also, that is one tough windshield. You might want to take note of the maker's mark in a corner of that thing and replace it with the same. Don't let em slap a cheap generic that will fit.

At that time it was big bricks for the Stadium, the Orioles Ballfield downtown being built. When the place was all done I think it took approximately 10 million bricks. A truck load would have been around 10,000 They bought bricks from anyone who made them. Williamsport, Martinsburg, York, near allentown and other places in the region.Truckermania and mhyn Thank this. -
Could have been from a handy man truck or van loaded with ladders, equipment and such, as well...
Who knows at this point, unless you remember who was in front of you while driving.
Agree with filing a police report, then of course get a new windshield. -
I had something similar happen in January on Hwy 59 south into Houston at the Bush Intercontinental Airport exit. It was 8pm or so. Thankfully it just hit my front passenger bumper and sliced apart my back tire. (F-150 not a semi)
There had been a junk filled dump truck that passed me a couple of miles earlier in the left lane. I had moved to the far right lane for that airport exit as he blew by. Sure enough 3 pieces of sheet metal flew off the truck two cars in front of me. I was able to slow down as soon as I saw those cars swerving. One of them lost a passenger window - I was very lucky.Truckermania Thanks this.
