    Hey Opus, question for you.

Being a rookie driver, are my chances really low of getting one of the newer trucks that have an APU and fridge installed in them?

If it is indeed unlikely, is there any way to request a new truck or ask to get those things installed on the truck they give me?

I figured I would ask you rather than a recruiter who's going to tell me what I want to hear.

Honestly, its usually about what's in the yard at the time. Generally speaking though, you're gonna get the oldest unit out there. Now whether or not they have that stuff on them, it's the luck of the draw.
@gentleroger might be a better source for this information.
Where are you going to be out of?

If you run to California, no.

Otherwise its possible, but unlikely. In a year it will start being more likely.

Shoot. Might be a deal breaker then. I have Freymiller extending an offer to me as well, and they emphasize driver comfort with APU's and fridges. So I'm really tempted to go with them.
However, I love the idea of SNi's one week of training on the road, as opposed to Freymiller's typical 6 to 8 weeks.

How sure are you that SNI will only train for one week? I have no idea, but it might depend on how you do.

Well, it's well known they have a three week training program. First week is a combination of classroom and yard driving. Week two is one the road with your trainer. Week three is back in the classroom for some more aspects of learning the trade the SNI way. Then they hand you the keys to your own truck.. I was told if you feel you need more than one week on the road, they can accomadate that. But yeah, as far as road time SNI is by far the shortest I've come accross in my research.

New driver orientation is still three weeks, but the schedule is different.

It's now two weeks in the classroom and then up to 7 days on the road. If the road trainer doesn't sign off, you go back for a skills evaluation and potentially another week on the road, or we cut ties.

that seems to make a little more sense. have you seen any improvement on the FNG's after they spend an extra week in the yard before climbing aboard or are they just as hopeless?
