in my youth i had one, an original "FuzzBuster", i think it had more false alarms than real detections. then I had a Bell (whatever model) same thing.
i drive at or slightly above the speed limits, and have never gotten pulled over.
so why spend more money....????NavigatorWife and otterinthewater Thank this. -
I think it’s fun to get an alert a mile before you see them.
So imagine this. You’re Buddy law follower, but you get trapped behind a 4 wheeler and a Swift truck. Both are doing 52mph in a 55 zone. So you lean on that pedal on the far right and run that rig up to 63mph to get by the rolling roadblock. As soon as you signal to move back over you see the bear with radar gun pointed at you. Bingo. You’re getting a ticket for 150 yards of being slightly above the speed limit. A good radar detector-detector would’ve seen him with his instant-on gun checking other people. You just saved $1000 for a $500 purchase.
Happened almost exactly like that in my pick up.jammer910Z Thanks this. -
we work/drive by night. traffic on the roads i travel, of course....but not bad enough where i can or do, get trapped by slowpokes.
i always hated the false alarms.wore out and otterinthewater Thank this. -
The key to using a detector for me has been to learn it and the areas you run to know what was a false and which isn't.
Haven't used one in a rig since shortly after the became illegal nationally but did get busted once in New York state and fined.
I will use one on cross country auto drives.
Use one on my sport bike successfully but have been caught twice out west.buddyd157 Thanks this. -
Had a K-40, like in the video, in my Turbo S Porsche....it had front and rear detectors hidden, and a laser diffuser in front......would warn me "front" or "rear" and announce what band it was....pricey, but with a car that would do 190+ it was worth it.
Now have a Valentine, and swear by it. Was coming westbound on 40, west of Williams when it lit up and told me there were 4 radar units ahead of me (it has a display showing how many units it sees), and sure enough over the next 3 miles there were 4 cops in the median -
I’ve used an Escort X50 for many years mostly on my bike. It’s saved me numerous times. Always buy a quality detector not a cheap one.
Saw this along time ago. Funny
lynchy, otterinthewater and Makeajump Thank this. -

Laser jammers are illegal in all 50 states and DC, laser "shifters" are legal in all states.
