I get it . Its a huge shipper they've had a contract with since 1980. In the farmbelt we all go to church together . All the employess at the shipper are locals in the farmbelt of 20 small communities our kids compete with each other in sports etc. Its all good for business. All drop trailers at the shipper are local trucking. Dannon is a huge Corporation in our community . We have alot dairy cattle in our communities. We provide them a commodity they want they provide us with loads we need. Fair handshake for decades. Ive never seen a Mega carrier at our plant they're all locals. Brokers take leftovers.

Nice to know where are still some companies and communities doing like the old days. My parents are farmers and I cherish that type of small town feel and a handshake is all you need.

I've downgraded my base line (rate per mile) to $2.10 per ALL hub miles on my lane projections for the next 3 quarters. From what I'm seeing, it's going to get pretty rocky.

Midwest Trucker, gokiddogo and KB3MMX Thank this.

That said, I think I could do better than that if I wanted to sit around a little longer and wait at my destination points. However, since I only operate within a 300 mile +/- radius, it's nothing for me to just roll home empty anymore LOL.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from my dad was to go home and sleep on it.

I thought, it was a proper time to bring this one up too. To have a decent collection of doom and gloom threads on the front pages. That's how most of us see things at this time, don't we.
Rates are about the same when the thread has been created for the first time...except the fuel was 30-40% less expensive.

Dear prospective new authority: do yourself a favor and do not buy a 500 000 mile freight shaker for $120 000 nor 5 year old Utility van for $50 000. Wait at least for long as they go down to half that price...
It is not a good time to expect high returns on such an investment.
