So, the "wannabes" should just give up? Rick were you ever a wannabe? Just courious.
I think we should start a new thread... You should never be a truck driver thread.
Just give up because if you are thinking about it you are just stupid. Do not try just work at Mcdonalds.
Comeon man are you serious? You are saying that drivers like my dad with 40 years and yourself with 30 years are the last mohicans.
So all of the "wannabes" should not accept any money less than 36 cents a mile. Forget working up to that point you should get it right from the start.
You make "wannabes" sound like it is a bad thing. You do not repect yourself as driver? people should not want to have a job like you do?
The fact that you drive for a living and sacrifice everything you do makes me respect you rick. I am serious you have given this industry 30 years. That is why I am still having this conversation with you. Belive it or not I am learning from what you are saying.
I am not trying to be a jerk and make you mad just trying to understand your position. In the end I still respect what you do. If you do not drive we do not get anything.

Did Hooked On Phonics work for you ?
This article came out in February . Add 33,000 job losses in February to the figures . Really great industry to try to start a career in . -
Well, like in my industry, old times with compaints make peanuts and only afriad of the newbee's. Pissing on them drink for the rest.
-

Another one that wants to learn the hard way. Let him go for it and we'll see where he is in 6 months. He'll have a CDL, a big tuition bill, and no miles, like so many of the others that have come through here.
-
You must have way too much time on your hands Rick. Everytime I come on here and I haven't been on this site long you have a dozen negative posts on why we new drivers have no chance! Why are you so worried about others getting into the industry. Evidently your not getting many miles at all because everytime I come on here I see your depressing posts. I've even seen you on other sites posting the same shiat. Get a real LIFE Rick and leave the trucking to the positive hard working quality folks.Crusher Thanks this.

I see you're new . Yeah , I have too much time on my hands . I've been out of work 6 weeks after having surgery . I got to the doctor's tomorrow to get the o.k. to go back to work . When you get to be one of the hard working quality folks come and tell us about it . Right now you're just another wannabe throwing your money away . How thick are you people you can't figure out 20,000 -30,000 people losing jobs in the industry each month means there aren't jobs for you graduates ?
(Especially ones that can't shift very good even after graduating )Going to orientation is NOT being hired .

Some of us are trying to save people from making a huge mistake. Go ahead, get the CDL, have the tuition bill to pay, and see what you can do with 1,000 miles a week. If you have been on this forum much at all, you'll see that there are plenty of drivers only getting about that in miles each week. Some are getting better miles, but more are having to get by on 1,000 miles a week or just a bit more.
With over 3,000 companies having closed their doors during 2008, and tons of people getting their CDL because they go laid off and heard that trucking is where it's at, companies have their pick of whoever they want for drivers.
Werner's 48 state division has been closed to new drivers for months, Schneider shut down their school and is only hiring experienced drivers, and companies have new drivers waiting weeks for a truck of their own.
Go for it. Give it a shot. Like I said, we'll see where you are in 6 months. Be sure to keep us posted. -
WHY stick your NOSES in other people's business? Are you afraid that the new breed truckers with an actual education are going to take your jobs? Guess I would be too but I'm not one to tell people what to do with THEIR MONEY and THEIR LIFE!! I think what a few of us here are trying to say is keep the negative opinions to yourself. And oh by the way the state of GA payed my tuition not ME!!
