If you can’t find a good rate going in: then don’t.
If you get a really good rate going somewhere, n then eat #### because you have to find a load back out; the load in wasn’t all that good, was it?
Per mile average revenue is all about averages. If you want to average $x for all miles, you have to get significantly more than that to account for all the unpaid miles.86scotty Thanks this. -
i know that wasn't a good rate going in , just saying that you may get that rate but only with direct customers, you don see 3.80 on load boards
-
You have repeated the same thing-
Do you see what I’m saying?
If it doesn’t pay you enough to deadhead to a good freight area- don’t haul it.
Load boards, direct customers: if it doesn’t pay- don’t haul it.
If I was a broker and I had a million loads for you to take a loss on: what would you do?
If I was a shipper and I had a million loads for you to take a loss on: what would you do? -
@whoopNride and @Ruthless. I understand what you're saying. I'm work on averages and am not complaining about my week last week, I had a really good week especially for as bad as the spot market is right now.
As a pretty new O/O I have slowly and carefully been looking for customers but I don't want to lock myself in to anything long term and I only have one truck, both bad for direct shippers, I realize.
I have a really good regular in to PA as often as I want it and PA is hard to get out of if you don't want to go further north east so to me, 2.50/mile out of there is decent right now, even in to Florida. I made the decision and did fine getting out of it. What did I learn? Just stay away from Florida in general. Not worth my trouble unless load board rates skyrocket again this year like last year.
Back to helping the OP, thanks.
