Man what the hell do you guys go through with these megas just to drive is beyond me.

I am wondering about something, is it because of the "trainer" you didn't upgrade or is it because you actually stayed on?

I would seriously start to look to get out of the mess by getting into another carrier who won't yank your around. I see that they may have violated their policy of the 'fast trac' program by not allowing you the accrued time count toward the fulfillment of their policy.

I would also find a lawyer for this reason -

They should have put you through their entire program which I thought was longer than just a week and a half. If it is, then Prime really sucks but if a regular student gets longer instructions, I would think that any training contract would be nullified if you don't have the same access. If I am wrong, someone please explain this bizarre form of training.

I don't know of anything light duty for your spine in trucking. Your first priority and absolute overriding thought should be to heal that spine very good and strong against your future ability to function for your family and work etc.

We don't always like the cards life deals but I think you and your rest at home is most important until that spine heals the breaks permanently.

First, never leave a job until you have another. Second, get your A CDL. That's a must. There's a lot of people looking for trucking jobs and you have an advantage. Your military service will put you ahead of most new drivers. It did for me. You have the choice of benefits in the way of medical coverage. I did not use it because I was hired anyway but an employer will love to hear they do not need to provide medical benefits. It's smart to stay on just because you are gaining experience. Practice is what you need to back. Don't feel bad because you can not back it takes time. We've all been there. Well almost, I knew a driver that worked for a major oil company for over 20 years and could not back a truck to save his life. We just never had to back up.

Looking for a job will be tough while you work but stay away from the bottom feeders. They'll hire you sight unseen. Take my word for it and go into the company and talk with the hiring people. You never know if they need a driver or not and you by being there in person shows them you really want the job. Set you goals high, go for the company that pays the best and everyone wants to work for. You'd be surprised how how many applications we had at ARCO for drivers. 2. I do not know why you don't want to drive tankers but if it's for safety I can understand. But the tankers are safer than a lot of people know. Just the shape of the tank is safer because it's shaped like an egg. There are numerous other safety items built into the tanker that I could tell you if you're interested. I can tell you one thing however, there's not that many tanker drivers that would leave and drive anything else.

One last thing. Do you know why the Navy got the Marines and the Army got the mules? The Army had first choice! Only kidding, I retired an E6 Navy Seabee.

Telling someone to go to U.S. Express/Total Transportation is worse than sending them to Swift or C.R. England.. Don't worry you'll find out why before you even leave orientation.. Especially if you're going to Jackson, MS..

I have never, I repeat NEVER, suffered negative consequences as a result of standing up for myself.

To allow myself to be abused is the same as abusing myself in my view, and it seems impossible to respect myself while tolerating abuse.

I'll let stuff slide here and there but as soon as I can see that the poor treatment will continue I nip it in the bud.
