Those EpicVue things are what the owner is putting on driver's trucks that have been with the company for 5+ years, as an incentive to stick around, rather than raising pay. Meanwhile, everyone who has 2-5 years experience gets nothing.

And the office is wondering why they are losing experienced drivers, lol.

 

I concur with the 211. Nothing fancy, but definitely edible.

 

Rates for boxes are quite a bit less than pneumatic for a few reasons. One being the boxes only haul 40,000 pounds or so of sand. I can legally haul 50,000 in my pneumatic with my W9. Another reason is there is no work involved with hauling boxes, other than driving. Pneumatic requires the driver to string hose and unload it himself. Not really hard, but you do have to know what you’re doing or you’ll take an hour every load. Plus it requires a PTO and blower, as well as hoses, fittings, etc. With the boxes, you pull their wagon with their box on it. You supply the truck and that’s it.

Theoretically you should get more loads with the boxes since it’s a quick unload with a forklift, then they set an empty box on ya and you go get another. But it pays less each load. So you may gross the same in a day, but put more miles on the truck and burnt more fuel.

That’s how I look at it anyway. I figure sooner or later they’ll phase out these dusty pneumatics, but I ain’t in no hurry and as of yet I haven’t seen evidence of it around here.
