    FL - JAX AND PANHANDLE

Our customer is tendering us more freight than what we originally projected, and so we're having to hire more drivers and buy more trucks.

1 year of tractor-trailer experience required in the last 3 years, must be at least 22 years old with a good driving record.

We run our customer's refrigerated trailers out of their distribution center in Jacksonville, Florida making deliveries to Publix stores in the Florida panhandle and lower Alabama.

We have 4 openings for Jacksonville-based drivers driving new 2019 Freightliner sleeper trucks with autoshift transmissions. These drivers run straight through from DC to stores, then take a 10hr break and return to Jacksonville. Generally, this is 3 routes a week and home for a restart. Sometimes you get what's called a "cleanout" from your last stop to take back to Jacksonville. That's empty skids, milk crates, baled cardboard, etc.

We have another 6 openings for drivers who report to our Marianna, FL terminal daily between 00:30 and 05:30 (the "AM" shift), and leave out in day cabs to make store deliveries and return to the terminal. Again, you might get a "cleanout" at your last stop to bring back.

We have 2 more openings for drivers who report to our Marianna, FL terminal daily between 14:00 and 21:00 (the "PM" shift), and leave out in day cabs to take either an empty trailer or a trailer containing a "cleanout" to the DC in Jacksonville and return with a load. That one is straight up 440 miles a day (220 miles each way.

Marianna-based drivers work a 5-day week, off 2 days. Sometimes, we've been having to call drivers and ask them to work on one of their off days. When we do, and if they do come in and work, we pay an extra $50 in addition to whatever the miles + stops pay is for their load.

All trucks in this operation were bought new this year. I think our oldest truck just clicked over to 25,000 miles this week.

The company is Ruan Transportation. Go to their website, click "Drivers" then "Careers" and then click on the state of Florida. There you can fill out the application. The first 2 postings are for this operation (1 for sleepers based in Jacksonville, 1 for day cabs based in Marianna).

I've been off the road for 4 years but if I went back to driving this company is on the short list of companies I'd drive for.

Full disclosure: I'm a Fleet Supervisor on site at this terminal. The phone number for corporate driver recruiting is (866) 782-6669

I don't know about any of the other operations; you could go to the website and check it out; they list all the available jobs by state.

@RedBeard, How much do y'all pay per mile for a driver with 10+ years experience with a clean MVR, no accidents, etc.....? Thinking about applying for the Marianna, Fl. position if it's still available. Thanks.....

Your leaving out the best parts for driving for ruan.

1 week paid vac first year. (Its 40 hrs x 18$ hr) not that great...
2 weeks paid vac 2nd year based on your averagr weekly pay from previous year. This is amazingly good.

Health insurancr is free and you can upgrade it but at a cost. Its pretty good insurance if u upgrade.

401k with matching after the first year.
U put in 6% they will put in 3%.. Its not amazing but still good and free money is free money.

Everyone gets the same rate wether you have 1 year or 30 years of experience. No favoritism.Tho different terminals have different dedicated customers and those rates will be different.. And sign on bonuses are different per each terminal. Each terminal has there own dedicated customer.

You can transfer to a different terminal/customer account after a year.
Tho im told im not allowed to by my TM he likes me there to much hahaha. Probably has to do with the 160k+ miles i did in 2018. Wich set me up for some nice vacation pay for 2019 and got a pretty good chunk into my 401k.

    Intothesunset and RedBeard Thank this.

It's home daily but pays by the mile?!?

Not even 1,000/wk before taxes if you do the linehaul @ 440mi/night.

No offense, but seems kinda low...

The $10 per night for drop and hook at the DC edges it over the $1k mark. It's essentially $53k/year for a 9 hour a day, 5 day a week job that doesn't require any education beyond a CDL. Work 1 extra night every other week and you're edging in on $60k/year. Or don't - just enjoy your two full days off every week.

It's not bad money, especially for a home-daily job with a 5-day work week that, if you're on the Marianna-Jacksonville run, is ridiculously easy.

If I had to dust off my CDL and go back to driving, this is one of the 3 companies currently on my short list of trucking companies I'd drive for.
