I wouldn't make a pencil dot on this guys a.. He is the kind of guy I was talking about in one of previous rants. Just don't make em like that anymore. And that is a dam shame.

 

Yeah he’s special for being out there that long but as rare that that is, the real unique thing to me is 57 yrs on the road with the same truck. I’ve had one truck for 12 years and I thought that was rare. That dude is one of one.

You've seen how thick the gel makes the water right? So that the sand you're hauling will stay suspended until it gets down hole to the perforations? The breaker is what thins it back out so it can cone back to the surface minus the sand.

From what I understand the gel especially important on horizontal fracs. Imagine trying to flow sand and plain water several thousand feet in a pipe. If not for the gel making the water thicker the sand would settle on the bottom.

The gel is used in the field at a ratio of 5 gallons per thousand gallons of water. And some fracs we will haul 80,000-100,000 gallons of gel.

Makes sense. I knew what the gel was for, just didn’t know about the breaker.

Some fracs they stop the sand for a little bit and run “pods”, then resume sand. I’m assuming that’s what that is?

 

I shook hands with him again last weekend at MATS. Good guy and fun to talk with. Bought that truck in September of 60, it’s a 61 model.

 

Those are original from the 1800’s. It was moved to here in 1953? It’s the original toll house from James River Turnpike about 1/2 mile away.
