Thank you! Is there an app or website available that I can see the freight movement or availability? That's one thing I haven't got a clue about, since being company, I really haven't had any need to. But I think that would be a good thing to start watching.

Spot freight rates stuck in neutral

This kind of gives you an idea though freight volumes for each sector of this industry

This month is shot as far as top miles for me, so I think I'll just take a little longer home time. Try again in May. I was trying to limit it to two days, but I find that it's not enough time to get everything done. I'm still trying to find a good balance on that one.

With electronic logging devices now mandatory and enforced, and with more than half of American trucking companies in its customer base, a relatively new technology company called KeepTruckin is now entering the load board field with a new app called Smart Load Board.

Thank you for the info. I'll take a look at it. I'm not super thrilled with KeepTruckin. I dont know about other places, but in Phoenix they send people out in the middle of the night to take pictures of DOT numbers off of trucks at all the truck stops. Its disconcerting when your DOT number is below your sleeper window and you see phone flashes. I got into an altercation with one female because I had no idea who she was and why she was taking pictures of me in my sleeper (I had no idea she was taking a picture of my DOT number). It was beyond creepy and many female drivers call to complain to the truck stop is what one pilot employee told me.

I find their tactics to gather DOT numbers distasteful, but if the app helps me figure out freight patterns, so be it.

Well, they finally opened the roads around 830am, and now sitting here in Carrington, ND getting ready for Saratoga Springs by Monday. Hopefully, I can go up to Plattsburg for Tuesday and be back in St. Cloud or Grand Forks by Friday. Hopefully, my new truck will be ready, if not no big deal

I m sitting here in Saratoga Springs waiting for my appt. Hopefully I ll get a door early and line up something out of NY since its one of our states with good miles. I ve never done a Plattsburgh load, and it would be interesting to see if they lay me over to pick up on Tuesday back to the Midwest or to Anniston. Or it could be a multi stop load

I ve noticed a lot of comments on freight being slow. At S&S, we don t do a whole lot of general freight. Most of our freight consists of picking up to and from Canadian manufacturers, and a few in MN/ND. If they slow down manufacturing, it affects our miles across the board.

The only time we really haul outside of our biggest customers is if they are slow, or there s a load that another carrier cannot cover, or there s a good paying load out there that needs to be picked up.

Yeah, I was called to see why my miles were so low this week. Explained it all. They are pulling me out of these lanes. I'm delivering in Anniston tomorrow morning, I'm at the yard in Oxford, so hopefully this week will be much better. Talking about sending me to Boston or Vermont, but I dont know what will be heading out of this area.

Did you get the weather that rolled through NY and down the east coast tonight?

Yesterday, it was a steady rain with some wind. I wished they would keep me away from Grand Forks. I don t need to see the yard once or twice a week. Every blue moon they ll mix it up for a load or 2, and right back to Grand Forks. I can t get remotely close to Anniston

I m noticing how they dispatch you depending on where you live. If you live down South, you stay up North, and vice versa, same with East coast and West Coast,

Now I m sitting at consignee which was supposed to be a 930 appt. Checked In, was told no appointment was set, and was also told that may not get to me today. I guess layover, and a reset in the future
