Place I delivered to had the whole lot full across the street, that was unusual.

It's making radio news, I'm sitting outside, away from 294, which organizers had threatened with a traffic slowdown.

Are things bad enough to warrant strikes? I don't know. But I do know that the state of healthcare is really awful. For self-employed people, it is insanely expensive. I know other countries have "Medicare for All" and that sounds very good to me. I'm paying $7000 a year in premiums and I hardly ever get sick.

  5. epic fail LOL!! knew it would be though when you don't have the backing and the support of the trucking industry. and just a bunch of loud mouths with know it all truckstop politics you're going to go nowhere and accomplish nothing.. just aggravate the public is all you're going to do and lose more respect..how many times did and OOIDA still talk about that and still does...how many times times the late Jim Johnston talk about how it won't work that way??
how many of them are actually OOIDA members in there little black smoke thing?
    I am a proud OOIDA
member for almost fifteen years. a senior member about to become a life member next year..

Things have changed for sure. Are they bad? That I don’t know. I still have the ability to make a decent living and I still love my job.( most days) I really don’t like the 30 min break or the 14 hr rule. And to clear that up, I don’t like the 14 hr rule when I’m at 13 hrs and 45 min and I’m looking for a place to park. Lol. That’s on me. I’m pretty happy I don’t have to work 95 hrs a week anymore while running 2 books. I’ll admit, I was a little concerned about this shut down. I remember when I first started driving around 1991 or so. There was a sorta strike and some guys were being jerks. A buddy of mine got his tires cut in Dallas and the Trucking Bozo was on the radio trying to calm everyone down. That was a long night. I’ve never been and owner op but I know plenty that make a good living. I would definitely be in OOIDA if I were a independent.

Freight is relatively soft right now. Green Bay is FIFO for us today, I can't remember the last time that happened.

Like I said before it will take over 1 million truck drivers to make a dent. So far we have a group of 26,000 truck drivers making a dent. It's hasn't done much and it isn't going to do much... Brokers know that rates are low and if truck drivers continue to take it for that cheap rate then rates will never come up.

  9. 45 bucks a year. you don't have to be an independent. ooida is for everybody. they have lots and lots of company drivers..myself included. I was when originally joined in 2002. then I became an owner operator for nine years and then I became a company driver again..that's the one thing people don't realize $45 a year your dues for membership.. you can't beat it you get the landline magazine and to get all the benefits of ooida members and yes you can be a company driver and have same as O/Os

I got a surprise run, because another dummy didn't know enough to wait for better weather to get a run done within the rules. Pre Easter van freight gets spotty every year, the place across runs vans, so that could explain, the in town o/o has been home since early in the week, also van freight.

FMCSA, the top of the lying pyramid, as far as I'm concerned, has been promising action on a change to the hos but hasn't delivered, yet. Typical lip service without action.

The more things change, the more things stay the same, I guess.
