Greetings to all. I drove class A from 1998-2007 but worked in an office since then. Needed to get back to driving for income and health insurance reasons and was very happy to find out Maverick could work with my situation. Many other companies could only hire me if I went to a CDL school (even though I still have my CDL). I finished orientation and securement training and got on my trainer's truck April 4. So far things are going well. Looking forward to going solo and running in their Atlantic Regional fleet.

I'd be interesting in knowing about your experience there in a month or two. I'm looking at applying there.

I'll try to post some updates. If not, feel free to message me. I'm also trying to do a YouTube channel; wildcard flatbed. Check it out as well if you want .

How long will they keep you with a trainer?

The minimum is 21 days. Ultimately it depends on the individual. I had years of previous driving experience but no recent experience in the last three years so I had to go out with a trainer. I was released by the trainer in 21 days but it took them another week to get me back to the main terminal in Little Rock for what they call final evaluations. Today was day 1 of "evals" which consists of a backing skills test (straight back, offset, and alley dock) and classroom instruction on elogs, company policies, etc. Tomorrow, day 2, is another day of basically classroom instruction (more practices and policies, etc). Day 3 we will "graduate" and be given our keys, assigned our trucks, and turned over to operations by about 09:30.

Here's a link to a YouTube channel I've started. Wildcard Flatbed
The content is limited right now to updates etc.
I hope to add some more interesting videos as soon as I get my own truck.

Just a quick update after my first 30 days solo with Maverick. So far so good. My first week was just over 2,252 miles M-F. 2nd week I got run out of a rest area by WV state trooper and had to restart my 8-hour break and ended up with 1942 miles (Sun-Fri) 3rd week was a little short for the Memorial Day holiday so I got 1605 miles (Sun-Sat) 4th week I missed a day due to the truck needing a major scheduled service (that apparently should have been done before a different Maverick shop issued me the truck) so I ended up with 1958 miles (M-F) and $240 in breakdown pay since they found a couple of items that needed to be fixed while they were servicing the truck. All this at .54 CPM (with no recent experience) and $25 tarp pay about 3-4 times a week. You do the math but it works for me. Maverick regional "weeks" have us home on the weekends.
I'm still messing around with a YouTube channel Wildcard Flatbed. Check it out if you wish. Take care and be safe!!

Following you with great interest. My situation is almost identical to what you described above. Did you get to go home at all during those 5 weeks?
