None of em are in the world of time. Last "quick" inspection I got was at the Sandy Ridge PA brake check taking the short cut to I-99. Sat there 45 minutes, 35 of which he spent sitting in his whip, pondering the fact my trailer VIN matched what was on the paper registration, but Georgia had transposed 2 digits in whatever computer system all the LEO's do lookups on. He finally let me go with a clean inspection after investigating and determining there was no risk to the public, nor any crime to be found.
That was the year I wised up (and also saved a stack of money) by titling and registering my trailers in Maine.
Reminds me of a funny. One day I pull in to the Piedmont SC Goodyear (behind the Peelot exit 35) for tires or something. While that's going on, I see a heavy wrecker doing his thing in the back row down the hill, so of course I gotta walk the dog over there and see whats up. Wasn't a Swiftie, but the story was worthy. Apparently the driver pulled in off the road and stopped in line at the fuel island. He had to whiz so bad, he jumped out of the seat and turned around in the bunk to use a bottle. A few seconds into it, he senses motion and it's too late. Oops! Forgot to set the brakes. Rolled backward down the hill, over a curb, and 50 feet into the woods. Must've been quite a ride and I'll bet he doesn't do THAT again, no matter how bad he's gotta go LOL. -
The best part about yesterday’s run was I can do it under 8 hours and avoid that pointless 30 min break. However, being stifled by coworkers who don’t own tire thumpers, flashlights, tools, common sense, work ethic.... Nay I digress.
I decided to stop on the way back around 9:30 am and have breakfast at the Tin Lizzie Cafe in West Point, Ms. Everything there is unhealthy and recommended. They have a great breakfast 1/2 lb bacon cheeseburger and French fries. It’s actually a truck stop, so if any of you are headed to the steel plant in Columbus Ms via 45 south, they are in town on the highway. Full menu all the time.

An even better deal than Maine is Idaho.
$99 one time and it never expires. Transferrable to a new owner for $10 if you sell the trailer. -
Since you mention it, I suppose Idaho allows agency registrations/titles. I'll check it out in 3 yrs when my plates expire. The Maine agencies were the ones that came up most often when I dug into it at the time so that's where I went. Pricing is close, but the same money gets me a 7 yr plate, not a permanent one.
Transfer process was painless and cheap as well. Long story, but I transferred the plate off a totaled trailer to a new one. The registration slip was also lost along the drama with the old trailer. I think the replacement registration plus the transfer fee was less than $10 altogether. -
Happy Anniversary @Tug ToyGrubby, MagnumaMoose, BigBob410 and 11 others Thank this.

No agency involved in Idaho. You can register it yourself directly with the state. Only catch is it has to be registered in your business name, not your personal name. You also get to keep it titled in your home state.
