I love those old locomotives. The technology is actually pretty amazing i think considering how primitive everything else was at that time.

We have C&O railroad 2776 on display at the park in our town. It's a beast! Locomotive and tender is around 900,000lbs. Of course that ain't near as big as 4014 at over a million lbs. Still neat to see one up close in person to get the real scale of things.

 

Mine was easy enough. The backing plate wasjust held on by a few wood screws, I undid it and shook it out easily.

 

Im no wealth of train info, but this place is neat.

Might as well be a mouse, the 7 year old takes forever to eat just one. I made two for the two year old which she finished off quick.

Picked up a 25,000# lift axle for cheap today. Come off an ex Mn dept of trans lowboy tractor. Truck was 20 yrs old but only had 200,000 miles on it...
Gonna try and make my spring ride Jeep an air up/down version like the Canucks run. Then I can jump it up on the truck when empty. Hopefully.
