If i find a problem and complete a DVIR about the problem, do i continue to submit a DVIR every day with the same issue, or do I only need to report it once?

If i don't need to report it every day, can you link a source for reference? Thanks!

If you have an issue everyday, you need to report it every day.

Even if its the same issue. If you have an issue on Mon, Tue & Wed & you don't report it on Tue & Wed & have a problem, they are gonna want to know why you didn't report it. Besides, the DVIR gets sent to the shop to get things repaired. If it don't go to the shop, they don't know its broke. Maybe it got repaired Monday. Maybe you repaired it, maybe it fixed itself.

If you have an accident, the po po & /or DOT is gonna want to know why you didn't write it up & note it to the shop on Wed. People cant read your mind. You gotta tell them. Yes..... Every day...

my company uses an eld company (omnitracs) allows drivers to fill out DVIR , and copy/paste over and over. the software recently included update that basically forces a type of escrow situation. the dvir will not be complete unless its approved by the driver. So the company cant just get rid of one to eliminate the vir, without consent. It appears on the DOT system that way as well, from what i am told. i am not sure if the other ELD's refresh in the same way

up till my recent retirement, i did a post trip inspection EVERY TIME.

if there was an issue that needed addressing, i took the DVIR to the shop and dropped it off.

i was fortunate enough that my company had lease trucks, and they got serviced while i was on my home time.

other companies would service my truck while on my 8 hour break (back in the olden days) or the current 10 hour breaks, or even over the weekends.

keep writing it up, you never know when someone else is going to use your truck, so this will CYA as well.

If you dont do it every day (presuming it isnt on a company trailer your not pulling anymore). The company will presume you repaired it and wont bother to give it a second thought.

I was running a scraper in Co for Kewitt, they gave us a little notebook and we were suppose to write up any problem with our rig. Nobody ever did anything, so I started writing I am not wasting my time filling this out, because you don't read the fning thing anyway. This went on daily couple of months, before I was called in. They started to ream me for it and claimed they read them daily, so I ask if they did why did they wait 2 months to mention it. That got their attention quick, it turns out that those slips were forwarded to the main office. lol
I told them, they didn't have anything to worry about, apparently they didn't get read their either, if they hadn't heard anything by now. lol
