College is the reason I’m here son is sophomore in HS. He got a scholarship to attend the school he is going to now and it’s still a financial burden on us. Fricking hidden fees and costs at every corner. Can’t imagine what college is going to run us.

 

I've come to realize that college is just a big business. And just like any big business they try to find every way imaginable to take your money. I firmly believe that from an institutional stand point they do not care about the students. Just how much money they can take from them and their parents. It is a big racket.

They almost screwed it up again!

Woke up this morning, sent them a message asking for an update. They're working on it. 30 minutes later, a load comes in. Beer load (shocker) delivering in DC tomorrow morning. So I send a message asking about delivering, since of course tomorrow morning isn't compatible with my home time. No response. So I call. "The person that gave that to you is in a meeting. Let me see what he wants you to do with it . Call me back in ten minutes." When I call back they tell me that they're giving me something else and to standby for load info. When it comes in, it's a load that's literally just being dropped in the Trenton yard and going to Lewis Center. So that's where I am now, and going home after I'm empty.

Not really sure what the difference is. It's still 257 miles from here to where I park.

 

had my first maintenance issue with new truck. Arm rest just fell off. Feel somewhat naked with out the reassuring embrace at my side.

 

Mine did that too as I was driving down the road. I had the shop reinstall it.

I have a 2018 and assuming yours is the same,I do not like those new arm rests. I prefer the older style which is what you see on the passenger seat.

 

Missed my mom's birthday dinner. Everybody on weekend dispatch with the exception of Marco can all go #### themselves.

 

If I had a pair of vice grips and a wrench I could fix it myself. I asked Albany mechanics to fix it to late in the day. Maybe they will do it in morning if not it will be back on 10 minutes after I make it home.

 

Anyone ever been to XPO Logistics in Rochester? That place sucks. There are indoor docks just like Lexington Warehouse but tighter.

They wanted me to hit a dock that was impossible with the room available. Apparently the usual OTR truck dock is at the far end for a sight side back which at least seems doable with some extra effort. It was occupied by a dropped trailer so he wanted me to go to the right of it (closer to me as I tried to sight side. No matter what I did there just wasn't enough room anywhere. It was ridiculous.

I decided I would have more room if I tried a blind side so I got turned around outside and reentered the garage thru the out door. I eventually hit a dock. Not the one he wanted originally but the one I could do.

The warehouse supervisor had come out to spot me during my blindside back and said they have this problem continuously because the majority of their deliveries are by OTR sleeper trucks. He said they have complained to the manager but we know how that goes. Not their problem. The parking lot outside is huge with most of it unused.

It took me 40 minutes to finally hit that dock and I was pretty PO'ed by then. Stupid waste of my time. Add insult to injury I had the clutch abuse alarm sounding the last 15 minutes because I had to do what seemed like a hundred back and forth backs and pull ups.

Hope I never go back there which I have only said about 1 other place and that was a s__hole in the middle of Chicago. Since I live a bit over an hour east of this place I'm sure I will again sometime.

 

Mine had a little pin that is part of the connection break so I needed them to do it. At first I thought it was just disconnected until noticing that.
