I just bought a new 2019 T-800 daycab with 46k rears, X15@565, 18 speed, 3.91, dual air cleaners, etc etc to make a local haul truck for my lowboy. The strobe switch is wired to pigtails behind the cab, so I can mount a Whelen light bar on top of the cab guard, so I've got that covered. But the truck also has pigtails zip-tied out to the mirrors that are connected to an "aux" switch. The build sheet says that these switches are for air cleaner lights. What would be the best way to mount small rectangular strobes out there on the mirrors and use this pigtail to power them? Do those type lights need a separate power pack in the cab somewhere, or are they self contained? And what about the cheapy brands, are they good quality or do I need to just stick with Whelen? I see some guys have them in the grille also, but I haven't looked to see how they mount them. I don't want to drill holes in my nice looking new stainless grille with 7 bars and permanent bug screen.

I have West Coast mirrors on my Freightliner FLD. I mounted a Whelen light on the left, and a forklift strobe light on the right. (for now, I am deciding whether to replace it with a Whelen also). I power them from mirror heat.

The Whelen light is great as it directs light in horizontal plane and does not blind the person sitting in the cab underneath.

I have strobes on the mirrors on my 389, I wish I would have mounted a light bar on top. Running when its slightly dark out blindes me. I actually put tape on the side facing me. Just a thought. They do look cool tho.

When I mounted my both strobes on mirrors, I made sure that both are out of my line of sight. Maybe you can move them a bit higher and a bit closer to the truck. Tall loads obscure top of cab lights.

    Hayfieldmn Thanks this.

I had a strobe out on my mirror bracket using an antenna mount with a pipe nipple attached to raise the light up out of my sight

Does those strobes mounted on your mirrors not mess with your cb, or is your antenea mounted somewhere else?

Some strobes do mess with mine, even some on trucks that I meet. My hid off road lights will mess with it too. Maybe I should post on the cb forum, and see if there is a work around on this.

I do have a CB radio but I do not use it that much. I tried looking for any live channels and could not find anything. The only place I use the CB every time is the scrap yard that I frequent, I talk to the scale guys on CB. I did not notice strobes interfering.
