I started driving in 1997. Two of the VERY best men I’ve ever met in all of trucking were Groendyke terminal managers. It wasn’t just competence, it was that feeling of complete trust. I still find it uncanny. And, no, I never worked for Groendyke. (I’ve worked in the corporate world and for myself. Good men are rare).
Allan Eilers at Corpus Christi, TX
and
Doug Hibbs at Liberal, KS.
Both have spent a lifetime at Groendyke. As did their fathers.
Companies have a culture. I believe you could do a lot worse than starting there. Fitting in, is the thing. I can’t say anything about the others, but I do see more new equipment than a few years ago. I’d more than give them a shot.
HazMat tanker a world of its own. A REAL truck driver job. Great choice
Good luck to you.

Haz Mat tanker is a world removed. So is the pay.

I just started with Groendyke. I'm in Enid, Ok right now doing their week long orientation/training and so far I'm really impressed with them. I hope I feel the same way 6 months from now. They really treat drivers well here, and invest alot of money in training you to be a safe and professional tanker driver. It appears I can make as much or more than driving OTR, and I get to be home with my wife every night. I feel very lucky to be here, and I'm hopeful this will be my last driving job.
RookieJ1987, austinmike, slim shady and 1 other person Thank this. -

I'll be out of Albuquerque. I'm really impressed. Very professional here and the training you receive is top notch. The lunches they feed you are really good and high quality, and the give you plenty of cash for dinners. Nice hotel and only one person to a room. Really happy with Groendyke so far! What terminal are you going to be out of?
