Hello and thanks for the sounding board.
I have more 8 year driving trucks 2 of which were OTR. The issue is I haven’t driven commercially since ‘98. Ultimately, I want to buy a truck and lease on with a company but I have no recent experience. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Gonna need more information. Is you CDL still current?
Chinatown Thanks this. -
If you still have your cdl, Western Express will hire you. Go there to get some recent experience, then buy a truck later.

NO RECENT EXPERIENCE? NO PROBLEM.
We’ve pioneered the industry’s first “REFRESHER” program for drivers with NO RECENT EXPERIENCE, including drivers who have a CDL but didn’t attend truck driving school. Most trucking companies require you have recent driving experience regardless of how much driving history you have. If you don’t, they make you go back to school, which costs you time and money. But at Western Express, we recognize your past driving experience, or your past CDL A school training, and provide you the on-the-job PAID TRAINING you need to get on the road fast. -
Yeah, and where is his location?Lepton1 Thanks this.

I’m located in Fla. Turned in CDL but taking all written test and paying third party tester to admin the skills and road tests. I should have any issues with the back ground check for hazmat. That’s new lol. The last class A employment, I hold fuel for Florida Rock and Tanklines. Last OTR employer was T.W. Owens out of Lavonia, Ga. Thanks for the repliesaustinmike Thanks this.

My father drove for Talmadge for years back when he had his trucks leased to Mercury out of Emporia Virginia. Several friends of mine still drive for his son's dump truck business.

When you get the cdl again; probably can be hired with Western Express or Abilene Motor Express.
