I hope the drywall had a quick death, and didnt kick much.

Does the mailbox at least get a coffin?

A alternative to the mail box is to get a truck rim. Lay the rim on its side and weld some angle iron vertically out of the face of the rim. Bolt the mailbox post to the angle iron.

Now the mailbox will move out of the way for over zealous plow persons. Or in the case of the locals whom are only here for the summer. They will put the mail box in their garage during the time that they are no longer here in Maine.

Not yet, they have to put up the handrails and columns and install a couple of lights and then I’ll put it up.
They started on that today but I think they were missing a few parts.
I did get some real nice springs from Amazon,

Wow — look like they stripped them off a pogo stick — be careful if you happen to talk a dusky maiden to lounge on it in the moonlight — might get launched.

Wow! Look at all those trees you planted (teasing you about the old growth) grin
Nice amount of area for you to check your mail along the side of the road.
We leave our mailbox slid slightly open. That way when mail is delivered, the mail person will close the door, alerting us there is mail.
A popular mechanics suggested to drill a small hole in the back. Have a block of wood standing vertically inside with a stiff wire attached to the wood and going out the back. On the back of the mail box is another block of wood. When mail is delivered the block of wood (attached to a string so you dont lose it) topples off the back. Thus letting you know the mail was delivered.
