I’ve been a regional driver with Averitt since July 2018. Assigned a 2017 Volvo with automated transmission and TrIpac APU (every one of their sleeper tractors have this).
I’m routed home every weekend, automatically without request and without fail (no company excuses). If I want to work over the weekend “I” have to tell them - lol.
Started at 46 CPM with truckload and we are uniformed drivers which makes me feel part of a team. There are over 160 Service Centers available to us so we rarely stay at noisy and over-crowded truck or rest stops. Many of the centers have free showers, laundry, modern exercise equipment and pull through tractor trailer wash bays (our rig stays clean). The larger centers have maintenance, fuel and DEF.
We get several paid holidays a year which pay us 450 miles per day (Thanksgiving and Christmas is two days each). Same goes with vacation days and layover pay. Detention pay starts at $20 an hour after two hours. Since the customer gets charged for this, we rarely stay past two hours. Most companies don’t charge and the customer keeps us there half the day or more. Breakdown pay is $14 per hour.
In six years I’ll be 100% vested in their profit sharing plan (20% of their profit goes to this program, but that is increasing). Also have a superb 401k plan. Driver services continue to call me every other month to make sure I’m doing well. Oh yeah!
Over 1,000 drivers have worked at Averitt for over 20 years. I can surely see why.
Will be staying with Averitt forever

I lasted a month with them in 2005. Dispatcher liked to play games. I should have known when there were 50 other drivers in my orientation.

What does the cpm top out at...for a truckload driver..and how many years to reach it

Averitt kinda sucks right now ... low miles in truckload and the local and shuttle drivers are sitting home several days a week. They are talking about laying people off in some locations due to slow freight . Ironically they are advertising with a sign on bonus for drivers even though the drivers they have are sitting. The money from week to week is wildly inconsistent. That’s why I left. Be aware, it’s not what it seems. Started good but went south in a hurry in less than 6 months.
JBsFuture Thanks this.
