How long have you been a driver?? Just about everything mentioned is pretty standard practice. Most carriers are going to have you take a DOT physical regardless if you have a valid one. You gave up way to soon brother. You take the 3 weeks with the trainer to fine tune your driving and securement skills. That’s what the 3 weeks off is for. To call the company scumbags probably isn’t the way to go. You quit, so why should they do anything for you? You cost them money. Most companies will not provide you transportation or lodging if you fail any aspects of orientation, never mind if you quit. I wish you all the luck in the trucking industry as a driver.

I am 6 months into TMC and can say you made the right decision. TMC is a company that uses their new employees and tries to get them to quit. They tell you they are going to take your last pay check until you drive for them for 6 months, not counting the orientation or training. Yes, the experience is good, but their trucks are not all what they claim to be. Lots of issues go on and on with these trucks and the job is nothing but headaches week after week. Forget about going home every weekend too. That is a ######## lie for me. Out of the 6 months I have been here, I have been home 3 times. They talk a lot of double speak too. After attending TQM and advanced TQM classes, they explain the benefits of parking up. But my FM gets irritated with me, because he assigns loads that say I can get home, but to get parked up, I have to skip going home, because they are so far away, and when I get to the destination, I am lucky if I have enough time to do laundry and get a ten hour break in. Imagine if I would have gone OOR (out of route) to go home? If I would have went home, I would not make the money. My FM told me that is not what I am supposed to do. WTF? I am not supposed to make money? Since when?
Soon I will come to a point where I have to make a decision to stay or keep going. That is if I do not die first from them pushing me so far to the point of exhaustion that I am feeling now while writing this post. All I know, is that I am so tired that I am now making costly mistakes that again is preventing me from going home. Soon, it may cost me my life and if it does, I hope my family sues the #### out of TMC, because they do not give a #### about their drivers, no matter what they say during driver appreciation week where they give you a crummy tshirt that you will never get, because you are always on the road and can’t get home to check your mail to get your dumb ### tshirt.
On a good note, I find the fellow drivers are very helpful and friendly. There are a couple #######es on the TMC forum, but they are just your stereotypical forum troll personality types that think the forum is their own personal stage.
Last, this business is ####ed up. The laws are designed to do one thing, rob you of your money. Like the mob says, they try to justify it as being for your own protection, but that is a crock of ####. With both TMC and the law’s ########, it is amazing people drive for them at all. After all, sooner or later you are a slave to the law or to the company.
People may have told you that it would have gotten better if you stuck it out. Wrong. It gets worse. You read it right. I had a lot of similar opinions and experiences you had about orientation. Consider the cost to get home a savings, because I wasted a lot of time and money sticking it out with this company. For all the hours you put in, the money is not that great. And it costs a lot of money personally to outfit and do this job comfortably and right. Yea, you can pull in over $1200 a week starting out, but you are going to work the equivalent of two jobs doing it. I made the mistake of getting medical and dental insurance. At no time have I ever had the luxury of being able to go to the dentist and get my teeth cleaned or checked. My FM seemed dumbfounded during my first month that I needed to get a tooth fixed. Hygiene and good health do not matter to these meatheads running this company.
TMC is unorganized and not professional. They like to say that they are, but they have probably never worked at a real professional company. They are just pretenders in that department.

    Opus and jeff18 Thank this.
