I cut the turn outs off of my stacks, mostly cause of a rust spot on them, and drilled a couple of small holes in the bottom of the Y pipe. To solve the water problem I went high tech...a couple of coffee cans. Its simple, cheap, and fly pretty far if you forget to remove them before starting the motor.

Looking cool is a hard way of life.

u can find those rain caps cheaper than 200 online if you do a google search

Saw a guy with a flattop W900 with 8 inch miters. His driver's side elbow blew apart and the passenger's side had a hole rusted through that was so big you could stuff your fist through it. Is there a weatherproof coating that is heat resistant that you can coat the insides with to prevent this from happening?
-
Jet Hot coating will stand up to the temps. They use this coating on exhaust headers and manifolds. The coating has to be baked on if I remember right so I don't know if the chrome plating on the outside of the pipe would be okay.

Is that why my wrench went through my passenger side elbow when I tried to tighten the clamp around it?
And I don't even have mitre cuts; my stacks have turnouts! -
you can get a "chrome" powder coat for the outside and a heat resistant coating on the inside, the chrome powder coat cant be polished to a complete shine but its not to dull of a look. -
just get 2 buckets on those suckers an u nice.......i use buckets on my flat tops.....i didnt even kno wat happened when rain got into the pipes....i always thought it would stifle the engne...LOL!!!!
