By the way all of you mechanical masterminds, I've been meaning to ask:
This truck had a transmission support on the old transmission. It was not a buggy spring, but rather just a piece of rectangular tubing with two bolts running through it that attached to the tranny, and valve springs on top of the tubing that the bolts ran through. You tightened the nuts against the valve springs, which allowed some movement for the transmission.
I have since been told that rear transmission support isn't necessary. What do you all recommend?

Only one load today to Maljamar NM

It's been a while since I saw one like that. I'd bet you can get by without it.

Honestly, like Sawmill and Humble pie said most dont use them anymore, and on the style you have those springs dont seem to really do much anyway once they are so old. It's kinda a personal preference thing. I usually dont put that style back in, but the leaf spring style I do reuse if they aren't broken.

The thing I don’t know about is that cat brake. Since the trans is hanging off of it. I don’t have any experience with them so I can’t say one way or the other.
-
I agree with that. I forgot it had a brake saver on it
-
I forgot about the brakesaver too. Must've lost my notes. Or I didn't know there was a test today.

Hey just do like I do, set over there and copy off @Humblepie paper, that's how I keep my grades up

When I did mine, I replaced my bolts since they were just about worn in half. It's too light gauge to really do anything other than maybe absorb a little bit of flex or tame some rattle? I figured someone smarter than me designed it to be there, so I kept it.
