Horrible crash in Lakewood CO, I70 closed both directions. 12 vehicles 4 semi huge fire

    There isnt any hill yet in west denver. There would be very shortly but nothing that would be a issue that far into greater Denver.

    we were all very green at some point in our careers. when i was new to CDL driving i was extremely cautious, almost too cautious. i was at milk plan watching another hauler back in, it took this driver over half an hour to get in the bay. clearly he could not drive. the first time i went to that plant it took me 5-10 minutes, it is a challenging backing, but he didnt even start out setup right, not even close. i dont know where companies are finding these people. pay needs to increase in all forms of trucking.

    we all started out green but had to have some basic ability.

    I thought everyone knew you don't go into Denver unless you're 10mph under the posted speed limit. Traffic stops for no discernible reason at any hour of the day/night.

    by increasing the pay in all forms of trucking, the no-minds get that pay raise as well...i think what you meant to say was, "when companies hire good drivers, rather than multiple chance drivers, or low IQ drivers, rather than just a body to put into the seat, things will get better"..

    Mechanical failure or not there's always a better option then plowing into traffic. I'll use a guard rail, ditch or etc to stop before I let myself plow through traffic

    Looking at the downhill video....the truck in question is all over the road, but speed doesn't seem over the top. The load/trailer isn't leaning to a significant degree, and he's getting passed by a few cars, while others roll up behind him. No smoke that I can see off the brakes either. I don't know the territory, but something isn't totally adding up here.

    So, was the "Simmons" truck on the shoulder before the collision? Reports indicate the truck that caused it swerved back into traffic right before the crash occurred. Not that we need one, but that would one more reason to never use the shoulder for anything other than an emergency breakdown. If there's nowhere else to park, an ON ramp is a much better place than the shoulder. ..
