So back in February I was in an accident on I-5S on the Grapevine. Two cars hydroplaned into each other and then into me. They had to be towed, I was drivable and drove the final 2.5 hours back to the yard. CHP investigated and I was not cited. BUT.. . the accident shows up in the FMCSA database. Question is, should I go back to the companies I've applied to and update my applications to reflect this. Should I put it on any new application I fill out. As I was/am looking at carrier paid training for my CDL, and would be going to work for them after, do you think this would affect their decision. Right now I have open applications with Swift and CRST and update them monthly to keep them active and I'm looking to apply to Jim Palmer at the beginning of next month. Any thought input is appreciated.

Do you have a copy of the accident report? If not get it & just forward that to the companies you're interested in. You should be good once they see you were not at fault. All the best to you.
COBB2070 and lovesthedrive Thank this. -
I wouldnt worry about it. A company will understand if the not at fault accident shows up after the application date. Also if they havent called you after two weeks / and or you havent asked them in that time. They most likely wont hire you. Companies these days want workers. If you want a job, remember to check in weekly. Not doing that sends a message to the company that your not interested really about working for them. More than likely your application is in a box now marked April and will be tossed in a year (per law requirement).

If the cars were towed your carrier added that accident to their Register. The FMCSA adds all accidents that result in an inspection to the database. You were not at fault so you should not have any accidents on your MVR << is much more important than PSP. I would advise against changing anything on those applications because you were not at fault in it. If you are not hearing back from carriers "and you are telling the full truth" you have another problem because this accident is not why!brian991219 Thanks this.

I'm in touch with both CRST and Swift Bi-weekly and once a month I go online and update my application to keep it active. Either one would send me a bus ticket today to get there tomorrow and start training on Monday. I already have my medical card, so that's not a problem. If I would have went when I first started looking, I'd be working for CRST and be on the hook for $7,500 if I didn't like it. Same with Swift. JP only holds you to $3,500 and seems like a better training program and more OTR with a trainer before they cut you loose (30K miles minimum) . I enjoy the long runs with the company I'm with now, but they're few and far between maybe twice a month if I'm lucky. 3 clients ask for me specifically when they have loads, Virgin Galactic and NASA in Mojave and NAS China Lake testing and research. And only China Lake gets me out of the 150 mile range and changes my HOS requirements, I run the Keep Tucking app all the time and when I run out of state they put an ELD in my trucks. So it's not a question of "if" they will hire me. I guess I'm just afraid of pulling the trigger and being placed in unfamiliar and possibly uncomfortable situations. I think I can deal with being on the road for a month or even several, but the last time I got paid to train it was the US Navy, and I ended up spending two and a half years overseas with out the chance to come home once.

Didn't think about that. Get a copy and be upfront and honest about it.Omega1 Thanks this.

get a copy of the police report, then make several copies for yourself. at each application i have ever filled out when asked about any accidents, i always saw where it said, "attach a copy of the police report"
never forget to mention this accident, until in YOUR state, it falls off your immediate DMV record.
if it's in the FMCSA data base however, it might be there for life.COBB2070 Thanks this. -
Calling and talking to a recruiter isnt the same when you only email
