Does anyone know whether they're self-insured? I know a good number of decent to mega-sized trucking companies are; don't know whether the same is true in the fuel stop/travel plaza business.

I've considered that 5-6 acts of coordinated arson could shut all trucking down on the east coast.
New truckstops?!? Not in MY backyard!! -
its insurance fraud. they burn down their locations and use the insurance to rebuild rather than use invested $$$ to remodel or renovate.

As long as the old Clinton truck stop is open, who cares.
-
just went through a week ago and they're back open.
The old Clinton truckstop? I think I ended up there one night before I was a truck driver and honestly I think that's the land that Pilot bought at exit 13. Because I stumbled into a diner to use a payphone and the "indy" truckstop closer to Clinton doesn't have a diner. Looks like just parking, pumps and a small garage.
And I know it's not the Clinton Dinner with all the billboards and the train car attached. I pass that place every week and still haven't gone in because "no trucks!" But I am curious, maybe someday I'll go.
