Ok, so electric pump sucking out of the tank to the low pressure pump on the engine and passing through a regulator before it gets there, the regulator returns extra fuel to the tank and keeps a steady clean fuel supply to the pump? That’s the gist of it?

 

So long as we’re talking shop....they say a diesel only takes what it needs. what does that mean?

I’ve assumed that meant it takes what is needed and sends the rest back to the tank.

 

Doesn’t a gas engine do that to though?
