I just replaced factory fuel pressure Guage on dash. Its mechanical and runs to port on secondary fuel filter. It's not in line with going to back of head. It's on a separate output port. Will this give accurate psi?
My truck idles at 600 rpm when most Detroit's idle at 700. Bad? Is it possible to change with a nexiq prolink?
@600 rpm fuel is 12 psi. @700 rpm it's at 14 psi. @2100 it's at 70 or so.. my real concern is not high gear 1500 rpm no throttle with 90,000# it's @ 44psi, but if I gas her up boost jumps to 35-37, but fuel pressure drops to about 32-33psi?? Is this about right?
I know rebel127 and gonefishing has said to check at idle but most idle at 700 rpm.
Thanx for any and all help.
Detroit 12.7 fuel pressure

Fuel pressure ,You can change rpm by using switch for cruse switch on then use other to rase or lower rpm by pushing switch up to rase rpm to where you need it hi to keep heater hot at idle

I'm thinking someone drilled out restrictor in back of head. If dropping fuel pressure loaded isn't normal.
But I do appreciate all imput -
MY truck does the same thing. In 10th gear running highway speed 65 mph at 1500 rpm or so im running 60 psi on gauge on dash. Now if im in 10th gear and come up to a hill and lay into the throttle to increase my speed my fuel psi will fall down into the red on the gauge around 40-45 psi and thats with my foot into it. I would think fuel pressure would raise as im trying to accelerate up the hill. Funy you ask this as im trying to figure out with rebel127 right now why my truck isnt pulling as hard in 9th and 10th gear and im only making 28psi on boost. I should be in mid to upper 30's with the bw171702 turbo and work rebel127 did on my truck. NOt sure on mine if its fuel lines collapsing cam timing or bad injector. My truck runs awesome on flat land but throw a hill at it and the boost and pulling power drop off.

Rebel127 did a really nice tune on mine too. I wasn't getting boost I should hv at 1st. Then unbolt the a/c condisor and soaped it down. Fins on CAC had pealed back and created holes. That was right after buying Truck. Anytime I've not gotten boost expected it's always been somewhere between exhaust manifold to intake manifold. Good luck and Rebel127's tune was worth it!! In spades. Picked up .75 might and more power! -
Ya I've gotten more mpg and power for sure. The truck has a new cac new boots new bw171702 turbo new bully dog exhaust manifold. I've read that the intake manifold gaskets can deteriorate and cause leaks that's the only spot I have not checked yet and it would be the last thing that hasn't been replaced or gotten new gaskets (which I have on the shelf). My truck does seem to have a surge so to say in 9th and 10th gear from about 1300-1500 rpm like it's not getting enough fuel and it the motor shakes the truck a bit. Or at least that's what I think is happening. So I don't know how to check that out?

With the pressure ur pushing it don't think it's lack of fuel. Not to that point where your gauge is at anyway. I did almost buy a new cac that had a hole in it but parts guy caught it
Intothesunset Thanks this. -
With Rebel127's tune I'm pushing 34-35 psi on dry hot day and 35-37 on cool moist morning. Heavier air
-
I'm 28 max at any time. Something isn't right.

Man I wish I could just get 20psi boost I can't seem to get over 14 pounds on the gauge wondering if that's normal for a 430hp Detroit we just got the truck haven't had a chance to do all the checks for boost leak but don't hear any going up hills
