Here's another pro tip that could be a good thing or not, depending on perspective.

I live in a fairly populated suburb of ATL, where there's an Advance Auto Parts every couple miles it seems.

What I discovered is they have sort of a hub/spoke distribution model. No idea where their nearest actual DC is, but there is usually one store in the middle of half a dozen others in about a 10-15 mi radius, that serves as a distribution location. That is the store that will have what you want when several others show out of stock.

When I need something, I check the two of those nearest me and go there if they have it. Because the one a half mile from the house never does. Or try NAPA warehouse, the next level down into parts sourcing hell, if I'm determined to get one today.

 

a proper parts counter!! You send a snowflake in there I doubt they'd ever make it out alive!!

 

We no longer with in last couple years have any auto parts stores other than chain stores. Rather sad. Have to go 30 miles north for that service and anymore if you dont get Mike the owner on the phone you might as well call auto zone.

 

So my shop could really be a disguised auto parts store then?

I tried to get the books from a mom & Pop that closed it doors suddenly, didn't find out till a week later. I'm still looking online for reproductions or original books. Maybe @Grubby is hording them, if not I will add to his collection if i get more.....

ABC News just put out a headline about a terror plot that was stopped in California. The story is on hold ( under seal ) right now. Multiple targets including possibly the Santa Monica Pier. The suspect is a US Army veteran. FBI, LAPD and the US Attorney office is involved.
