I had this happen to me in the early 2000's. I was in CA at the time and used my own money to drive it to my home in FL. I liened the truck, trailer, and load that was on at the time. I had the equipment in my possession for 4 months I got my back pay, Fuel purchased to get home, and extra for delivering the load 3 months later. I was then paid 3 bucks a mile to deliver the trailer to a dealership in AZ, and the truck to a dealership in TX, as well as a airline ticket home.
Morale of the story? Keep enough funds for fuel to get home, and get a lawyer to file the paperwork for the lien. Know your laws, or pay a few hundred buck to a lawyer to help you out in these situations.

This also reminds me of a story I heard. A roll off company closed the doors....no bankruptcy....just closed. Another roll off company caught wind of it and went and grabbed all of the companies containers and repainted them....bam! I could use a free falcon tractor!
exACT driver, speedyk and x1Heavy Thank this. -
I looked into that vulture capital firm, either their website crashed or it wasn't all there to begin with. Didn't seem like a very good place either only 3 employees? Real fly by night stock flipper. We used to call them boiler room brokerages in NY.
The disturbing thing is they bought a functional company with a leveraged loan with more debt going into the deal than the company was worth.
This is like getting a loan to buy a $125k Kenworth then trading it in on a $30k Honda. You're $95k underwater on a $30k car?!?
And they could make the payments until GM closed Lordstown. Then the wheels fell off.PoleCrusher, jamespmack and speedyk Thank this.
