    @MACK E-6, ever look at preppersdiscount.com?
    Specifically their mag lite adapter? I’d bet money the ATF/NSA are monitoring them.

    I didn’t quite get the big deal flatbedders made about showers and wanting one in the truck. Stopped at Bill’s in Linwood today and that ratty old shower was the highlight of my week lol.

    I will have to do a little better about loading myself into dead zones. Cheap freight or bounce home? They just won’t budge - I ask for $500 more, and they like best we can do is $40.

    Should be a pack of fun - I have almost as much experience in IN as I do in OH.

    I could be cranky by end of next week.

    So says everyone in the universe...on their way to 13 axles.

    Soon as you get your 2/2/2 you’ll discover you can’t load your triable or steer

    Then you’ll want a long neck 3 axle Jeep but then get tired of loading everything to the front of the well. Then just 70 ton back end....

    Are you a gambling man?

    You have to make enough money going into a dead zone to pay for the trip out. But then, you know this.

    People move to keep money flowing, I understand this. But it makes much more sense to pull cheap freight in the freight lane than to pull cheap freight to get out of a dead zone.

    So, figure your rate and profit margin and figure out the bounce right back to the starting point. Minimum.

    Now, why does cheap freight in the freight lane makes more sense than pulling cheap freight to get out of a dead zone?

    Time. It saves time to bounce back to the freight lane. Saves fuel too since cheap flatbed load are usually heavy. So, if I made my money going in, I will not hesitate to bounce out.
    But sometimes you see drivers spend 2 days picking through cheap freight. You shoot your week to Hell when you do that.

    This. The flatbed company I worked for didnt understand/didnt care because it wasnt costing them near as much as it was costing me to sit while they tried looking for "better rates" or theyd try to get me out of a dead area with something that paid barely over a dollar a mile for a 1000 miles to the truck. At that point I'm making .25ish a mile. I wont move for that cheap of pay no matter if I'm a company driver or not. The truck made 9mpg empty. Why I couldn't run 200 miles to a better lane and way better freight instead of hauling cheap freight was beyond me.
