Dude! You can't tell me that! Jeez........You will get caught! There are dozens of these letters. Public admission on a web site is as good as getting caught using them. Same as the Galaxy radios you are so fond of.......and the linears...........

    Subject: Warning Notice--Unlicensed Radio Operation
    Case #EB-2006-2832

    Dear Mr. Kamphouse:

Information coming to the Commission's attention indicates that on January 7, 2006, you were operating unlicensed radio equipment on the frequency 144.945 MHz, a frequency licensed to the Amateur Radio Service, while hunting in the Rhoby Road area of Forest Township. Our records do not indicate that you possess a radio license to operate on that frequency.

While many hunters use Citizens Band radio or Family Radio Service equipment, the use of Amateur radio equipment requires a Commission-issued license. Please be advised that operation of radio transmitting equipment without a license is a violation of Section 301 of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, 47 U.S.C. Section 301, and will subject the operator to monetary forfeiture (fine) or imprisonment. Fines normally range from $7,500 to $10,000.

You are requested to contact me at 717-338-2502 to discuss this matter.

Buck and a Half, you think you are safe from this but you are not. The FCC could take this site to court and force the site owners to tell them who you are. There is no anynomity here.

Read some of the stuff we have been posting here.........Jeez..........You think truckdrivers are the only ones the FCC has been going after?

I just slipseated into another truck while mine is being repaired and took my CB out and put it in this loner. I'm having SWR problems and was wondering if it may be the antennas, ground, etc? It's a Galaxy 959 and since I'm not really an avid user (mostly because of all the smut talk anymore) and not really sure of how to adjust it to work at it's best, so got any suggestions? Sure coulda used it to warn drivers of the wildlife I left behind the other night.

It could be any one of the thing's mentioned. Depending on how long you will be in the loner truck, is what I would go on to see if it is worth having the problem fixed. It won't hurt the radio to listen, if you have a high SWR it WILL only hurt it if you KEY UP and talk.

Earth what did you end up doing? On the Volvos they make whats called a Volvo mount. Nothing but a big heavy bar that screws into your mirror support bracket. If you go down the road and look at the Fedex freight trucks you'll see what I'm talking about. It will help on SWR's. You can get them at most truck stops for around $10.00 . Then run what ever type of antenna you want, just have a shop set SWR's. Everyone has their like and don't likes when it comes to CBs.

WOW!! I don't mean to get involved in this but a little, but using those 2 Meter radios is CERTAIN to get you a warning notice from FCC at the least! Anything other than a CB can get you some heavy fines up to $10,000 per occurrance!!! The local hams will hear you and will drop a dime in a skinny minute and they DO have an advocate at FCC (who, btw, is also a ham). I would simply offer friendly advice to cease using such radios (unless this is mistaken identity and they are actually FRS or MURS radios). If those radios display.........like 144, 145, or 146 MHZ, you are trodding on dangerous ground.

I use a galaxy 959 with a RK 56 with dual Predator 10k ant.'s Everybody says my radio sounds better than most. Thats not even using my 1500 watt kicker either. Also a flat match on your ant. will do wonders. On those trucks where ground is a problem, you need to run a ground strap of somekind from the mount to the frame. Never under estimate the importance of a good ground.

I ended up running a new coax to the driver side stock mount. Added a 4ft firestick. Tuned it and all is good. Get 2-4 miles depending on time of day, night seems to be better, But I guess radio waves go farther at night.
