I do mostly contracted loads but they start getting cheaper also if the spot market rates fall for any length of time. .. spot market is still in the dumpster every time it looks like it is on way back you run into a wall , get a few good loads strung together and wam nothing,

Anyone thinking about getting into this game right now is nuts. If you have good creds, stay where you are or leverage yourself for a good company position with benefits, etc.

You're right. We're just a mom and pop outfit and we have a pretty good customer base but our bean counter advised us not to take on any new debt for the near future.
Our customer's sales are down and they're not increasing their debt load either. These are old time companies that know how to survive.
We had three new trucks and four new trailers ordered. We're still taking the trailers but we cancelled the truck order.

Every successful business does this. Netflix, Uber, etc. They offer the cheapest rates and take the loss until their competition dies then they increased prices to get their money back. Then when their prices are so high the media starts turning on the company then another competitor is born doing the same thing that made other companies become successful... cheap stuff good customer service until they are the new monopoly.

I also heard on a russian chicago truck driver website that the rates suck big time. I wonder why. Is there too many trucks and drivers (as I predicted a year ago posting about a "Tidal wave of unqualified truck drivers"), or is that because there is fewer loads? I am a private carrier so I am not exposed to rates.

Anyone has the right to boycott amazon, however it will not make any difference.

Amazon will not be able to make people drive for less than they can get elsewhere. Right?

And if it cuts out brokers, I will shed not more than one or two tears for them.
