MVR question for Tanker Driving

The issue will not be the type of trailer, not at all. Sure just depends on the company's policies. Try a company the pulls pneumatic's like cement or frac sand.

 

Indian River does food grade tanker out of Florida. They may have a terminal near you.

 

I have a reckless driving charge, and at the time it was I think 4 and a half years old when I got hired on to pull tankers for tankstar usa, (schwerman) pulling hazmat and everything. Here out in Houston tx...so yes it definitely can be done

 

Most companies only go back 3 years.
Some go back 5
A few go back 7
Very very few go back 10 years.

Call around and ask how many years they go back on your MVR for violations.

 

I'd try for the dry bulk or food grade tankers, keep your record clean, and move into gas or hazmat tankers once you get a good DMV report.

I guess my first question would be, did you make ANY attempt at getting the charge amended, or reduced? To answer your question in a nutshell, to get hired by a reputable company, that charge will have to probably be 5 years old. Sure there are companies out there that will hire you, but with those kind of companies, you’ll probably just do more damage to your MVR. You might wanna try something like an oilfield service company. Key energy has workover rigs that do maintenance on oil and gas wells. They have their own water trucks, and might be a little more forgiving. In the future, ALWAYS get a court date, and appear for any moving violation. Prosecutors will normally deal down a charge ( barring severe injury or property damage) in exchange for a plea. They system would grind to a halt if they had to try every disputed ticket.
