Hey I'm a CDL A driver with some otr and military driving experience looking to get in on an oilfield position wondering where the best place to look is. I do not currently live anywhere near an oil field so if anyone knows of companies that offer help relocating that would be especially welcome advise.
Where's the best place to look for oilfield driving jobs?

Your best bet for CDL-A work is here in West Texas. If I were in your position, I buy a used travel trailer and haul it out here. Plenty of RV parking. Then once your here, finding employment is easy. Depends a lot on what your willing to do or how hard to wanna work.
Do you have full endorsements, Hazmat etc?
Great places to start in the oil field are large employers like Halliburton. From there you’ll get an idea of what’s out here and what interests you.
Midland or Odessa, can’t go wrong with either place as far as jobs or places to park your home on wheels.Manny328 Thanks this. -
Go to a truck stop near the patch’s,and talk to other drivers.

I'm just a little curious about this. What experience is realistically needed? Is this all Hazmat Tanker or some non-Hazmat water tanking?
For now, I'm still at PTI pulling vans of paper. -
Sand, water, crude, drilling equip, depends on what you want to haul. Sand slow right now in tx. There's fields all over though depends on where you want to go what you want to haul. Tx, ok, la, ??

Some want specific CDL-A experience
Some just want a few months driving experience with CDL-A.
Best to put apps in and hope for the best.
Some new cdl school grads are flooding the market with applications and being hired.CJ701 Thanks this. -
I'm a huge fan of the Bakken. They do it right, slow steady growth after that hiccup a few years ago. Depending on the night sand, water, or oil can do well here. No one wants to live here so they pay more.
If you're young, under 50 and in good shape, I would get on a workover rig crew. Don't get me wrong but you will be working and in all conditions but it gets your foot in the door to move up to better jobs.
Instead of explaining all of them I'll list my order of preference:
1. Workover rigs, leads to a drilling rig or management
2. Frac crew, leads to midstream or management
3. Water, you'll make a solid 80-100k plus benefits but you won't make any higher
4. Crude, see #3
5. Sand
Drilling, sand, and frac can go away in an instant3031, rabbiporkchop and snowman1980 Thank this. -
