Driving though mud sand and river rock would chains help ?

Lock em, get some speed and give 'er. Don't let off the throttle or slow down, just push it and go.

 

The purpose of chains is to dig into the surface of ice to provide traction. Since sand, and rock aren’t a solid surface, I’d say No, they won’t help.

 

Pick a good line and don't get off the throttle

 

Chains do good in mud if you’re just spinning on top. If you sink these trucks ain’t turning tires fast enough to claw out. Say you have wet slippery mud that’s 3-6inches deep chains WILL help ALOT. But they’ll need something a bit more then peanut butter to work.
We put chains on BIG WIDE forestry tires to help but once she sinks it’s over and you use the winch.
