You don't go nuts, just enough movement to find out what's loose. If it was going to fall out, it would have already happened. I've seen tranny mounts that were so loose it seemed like the motor was going to spin in the frame, but all the bolts were still in place.

Whites and Macks had the rear mounts on the transmission housing. Your FLD's rear mounts are on the flywheel housing. Gap would be on the top if loose.

If the damper you are referring to is the round thingy on the front of the crankshaft that is a bad idea. Especially if it is a viscus damper.

It’s the rubber that’s gone. Spend a very little extra and buy ATRO brand polyurethane bushings.Avail @ Fleetpride

Putting that kind of pressure on the front of a crankshaft??? It may go your way once twice even. When it don't your gonna wish you just had to buy an oil pan

If your 60 series has the aluminum flywheel housing and you’ve run your motor mounts loose, more than likely, the seam between the block and flywheel housing is probably leaking. You’ll have to replace the housing if you don’t get it resealed soon enough.

I made it a point on all the 01and 02 Classics we had. If I did a clutch, I did the motor mounts. Rear main seal, and resealed the flywheel housing, along with a pan gasket. If I really liked the driver, I would replace the shifter rod bushing.

It’ll make your truck feel new again.

Sure enough, mines leaking pretty bad, along with rear main, hopefully When I do the clutch , I won’t need to buy the housing. Looks like a big job, on top of a big job, Lol

If you use the Atro, don't come back complaining about a vibration in your feet!

Great pointers thanks to all. Took a look, no broken bolts or damage is evident. The rubber seems worn out. It’s cracked with parts falling off. I like the idea of jacking from the transmission and bellhousing. I think I’ll torch the bolts and go for it. Hopefully I’ll keep my hands and feet.

And yes, It is leaking from the block to bellhousing. Driver side only. I’d love to do a full proper repair all new but right now bills trump. It’s gonna be mounts only.
