Unfortunately, the family farm is slowly being replaced by giant corporate farms.:( My BIL works for one of these family owned, corporate farms now. 52 irrigated quarters and just under a thousand acres of dryland. 3 full time employees (Father, son and my BIL) and 1 part time truck driver.
He does all of the planting for them. They bought a new tractor for him this year, and he is the only one who runs it.

Somewhere around $460,000. It was the only model that had the capacity to lift the cotton planter (3 pt hitch).

They must work their buns off. That’s not enough man hours/acre. Do they sleep?

They're hopping 6 days a week. Every year, they get further behind. The owner doesn't want to hire any more help. Everything they run is huge. 12 row cotton planter, 32 row on 30" corn planter and it's all new to 2 years old.

Any big tobacco shop or some fuel stops.
You can Google it and they have a list of places that sell it.
Taste wise it's a tad sweeter and not as much of a bite.
I go thru a tub or so a week....

I don’t get it. At harvest time they run many combines, filling trucks to haul away. This is done as fast as they can around the rain and the bad weather that’s coming. How can three people do 1000 acres I help a local farmer at times. 6 full time employees, several part time. 5 tractors, 2 combines, 4 grain trucks. He has 1,800 farmable acres. Staggers 2 crops, wheat, soybeans, and corn.

Feedman, 7-UP, Al. Roper and 17 others Thank this.
